Mercury Insurance and Flume Water have teamed up to offer a pretty amazing deal. Right now Mercury Insurance customers can get the Flume 2 smart water meter for $75 rather then the $199 retail price.
Dealing with their customer service pre-purchase (via chat) has been awesome. The team helped verify compatibility, and even refunded me the $10 shipping charge,
From Flume:
Flume 2 works with virtually any water meter and is easily self-installed in minutes. Flume's app allows users to view and monitor indoor and outdoor water use from anywhere, at any time. This increased visibility provides complete home protection by catching and alerting users of leaks as they happen, both inside and outside of the home. To date the use of Flume products have resulted in lower water bills and the avoidance of potential catastrophic property damage due to leaks.
- Self-install in under 10 minutes. No plumbing necessary!
- Detect leaks and get notified immediately.
- Monitor and manage your water use—indoors and out.
Though Mercury does not currently offer a policy discount for Flume, you can purchase your Flume for just $75 (plus tax and shipping) after a $124 instant rebate from Mercury.

A good deal if you have access and your water company allows you to strap anything to their meter; mine does not ---claiming it interferes with their modern meter Wifi signal.
I have Travelers and no deal. Bit the bullet and bought a Flume 2. So far it is nice with the exception that there seems to be a 2 min delay. When I turn off the water it still says water running after refreshing and only updates 1-2 min later.
Also sucks that it doesn't tell you how many gallons per minute of flow is happening right now. Just reports the usage after the fact. (I.e. you can see your total water usage last hour but not how much at the very moment.)
EDIT: I asked if they have any free shipping promos and they said they don't lol. I'll probably just order the thing. I figure it's good to have. I do need a shovel to clear some dirt from around the meter because it's pretty caked on inside. They must have not checked this water meter for years....!
Was able to quickly identify how much water was being spent watering the lawn.
