The Ivy Bridge CPUs were/are amazing. I had a 3770k a year after it released. Had it overclocked to 4.5GHz without breaking a sweat (had pushed it up to 4.8 before but it would cause some stability issues).
Only got rid of it when I moved to AMD 5600x last year, still an incredibly capable CPU and able to hang in there with modern programs and games.
My grandson is still rocking my now 9 year old Ivy Bridge 3570K and all of his games still run great with a GTX 1080!
I paid $225 for that thing when it launched, I doubt I'll ever see a bargain like that again.
I have a ryzen 1600.. Seeing everyone crapping on this makes me realize I need to upgrade.
Your ryzen 1600 is a 6 core 12 thread cpu that has a tdp of 65w. This threadripper 1900x has a tdp of 180w and is barely faster than your ryzen 1600. People are crapping on it for its speed compared to how much power it uses and heat it puts off. Your 1600 is fine.

A 3570k is not fast enough to play current games at any respectable speeds. Also that $225 today is worth about $260 with inflation. We are starting to see the ryzen 5600x dip down to this price range. The 5600x has 450% increase in processing power over the 3570k. The bargains today are way better. At the time sure that was a good deal but cpus today are so much more powerful for the same price as you were paying 9 years ago.

Yes it actually is, it's in the other room and he plays Warzone, Modern Warfare, and Monster Hunter world with it. They all run awesome thanks to the GTX 1080 he has.
As for the price, I'm not talking about the price, I'm talking about the fact that the CPU has been used for 9 years at a very good price.

They do not run awesome. That gpu is severally bottlenecked.
This 180W CPU is about as powerful as the 15W 5700U. You'd probably do better with that or the cheaper 5600X since the motherboards will be a lot cheaper.
Right, and the 1920X is a *much* better deal anyway, nearly double the performance for a few bucks more
Most of us don't have a Microcenter near us--so don't care. No one will probably have one in a few years. They are down to 25 stores and will likely go the way of Tiger Direct, CompUSA, Fry's, Computer City, and pretty much every other chain computer store. The margins are atrocious and funding for those deals ad marketing funds is drying up.
I have a microcenter near me and it's literally packed with people every time I go there for anything.
Clearly, you're upset that people are still having a very good gaming experience from their 9-year-old CPU. I'm sorry that you would rather look at a web page to describe the performance than take the word of somebody that actually has it running in their house.

Yeah okay man, we all know you are the only one who is mad here. If you weren't you wouldn't keep trying to convince people that a 3570k is good enough to game at decent settings in 2021.

Monster hunter is 3.5 years old.
Here is proof that you are severely bottleneck the 1080 with that cpu:
