I previously used windscribe, which isn't exactly fast, but was so much faster than VPN Unlimited.
if you want to use this on devices that change often (PC, tablet, phones) you will be annoyed by the fact that you need to remove old 'devices' (if you max'ed out your 5 connections) before being able to use it on a new device.
And you can only remove one old connection at a time.
After that they will make you wait 1 week before you can remove another one.

For $22.50 I say this is still an excellent deal.
Here is their response to me when I asked about this. It is pretty clear from their perspective that this is an issue with Stack Social.
Hi,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I have looked into your account details and your life time account is listed as active on our
end till November 25, 2021.
With respect to your renewal query, as the subscription was purchased through Stack Social's platform,
all subsequent renewals are handled by Stack Social. And our concerned team is still in coordination
with them regarding the same.
Please note that since you have purchased the plan initially via Stack Social, they have the
responsibility to renew the subscriptions based on their initial commitment with all the users. As explained above, we are in discussion with them and requesting them to fulfill their words they initially committed with all the users via their terms.
Once again, I apologize for inconvenience this may have caused. We're lucky to have you.
Thanks again for being such a fantastic customer!
Feel free to contact us if you require any further assistance.

Where did you find it?
I can tell you it's wrong with one look. Mullvad is not registered in the US.

When I contacted them they wanted to switch me to a different VPN service which I didn't want. I've have PureVPN installed on all my devices and I like it and don't want to switch. The deal I made with Stack Social was for a lifetime subscription to PureVPN, not another VPN service. Now Stack Social will not even return my emails and, yes, I have been very nice to them.
EDIT: tried another server and no issue
Cool thing with SP (single license) is you can install on multiple machines and phone (Android, I think it works with IOS too). You can setup your account to always prompt for a One-Time pin whenever it detects new device or opt to not allow on any new devices. I get the hesitation with 'cloud' security, but you could use it without = ("Local Synchronization").

What attracted me to ProtonVPN was the ability to use it for free. And it does work, but as expected it's going to be very slow but unlike many other free VPNs out there it's actually fairly useable.
I looked more into them and really liked their ideals and approach to VPN services, they are a no log company that is based in Switzerland, Switzerland probably has some of the strongest privacy laws in the world so it's a very good indication.
There are certain things I didn't like, they used an Israeli based company for one of their VPN technologies at one point but after an immense amount of pressure they dropped that company as Israeli based tech companies have been notorious for working with the NSA and being some of the most privacy abusing companies in the world.
They are five dollars a month for the more basic version which I think is acceptable even if it is a little bit higher than alternatives, they have very good support and a ton of servers all over the world, I mean just around me they have about 8 servers on my bordering states. The VPN itself has good speeds so it works well for torrenting. And if you have any issues their customer support is actually very responsive and works well.
So yes I strongly recommend the company, but again I haven't dealt with other companies. An added bonus if you care their Linux CLI client is wonderful and very simple to use and for a VPN who actually wants a GUI?
