(I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice. I've just been dealing with a lot of musculature-related back issues that I've learned more about over the years, so please take this information with a grain of salt and do your own research; this is only my personal understanding of the topic)

Basically, fascia is connective tissue that holds muscles (and organs and all of the other human… goop) together. It has nerve endings and is about as sensitive as your skin (in other words, it can cause you pain sometimes).

Healthy fascia is smooth and flexible and allows your muscles to move pretty freely, and without pain. Unhealthy fascia is sort of tacky and scrunched up around the muscle, causing stiffness, limiting mobility, and causing pain. You can develop unhealthy fascia from being sedentary (like an office worker) or from overworking your muscles with repetitive movement (like a laborer).

You can sortof "reset" fascia by applying force to it. This is known as "myofascial release", which is most often talked about in the context of massage or physical therapy. In a nutshell, you can un-scrunch your fascia and return it to a more pliable state, then exercise the muscles in that area and re-train the fascia to be healthy (with regular exercise, hydration, etc).

A percussion gun like this one can help with acute cases of unhealthy fascia. For example, if you have a stiff knee the day after you run, you can use the percussion gun to loosen it up, then go for a walk or stretch and drink some water to get it back to normal.

If you have a lot of fascia issues (like a very stiff back or hamstrings) I would highly recommend seeing a licensed massage therapist with a focus on myofascial release. Bonus points if they specialize in sports medicine or physical therapy.

Hope that helps.

I have this model and use it for post-workout recovery and acute issues with a problematic back muscle. If you're in the market for a percussion gun, there really aren't many serious competitors to this one anywhere near this price.

The primary reason that it's more expensive than those $50 ones you see on Amazon is that it has a very powerful motor coupled with a pressure sensor that dynamically adjusts the power output based on how hard you're pressing it against your body to maintain a consistent level of force. This is super important for delivering sufficient percussion to deeper muscles and for breaking up tougher tissue like fascia.

The build quality is top-notch. There's nothing cheap about it; professional grade all the way through. The motor is good enough that I've never been able to make it choke. It never slows down no matter how hard I press, even on the lowest setting (which, by the way, is powerful enough that I rarely need to take it higher).

I bought it at $350 a while ago and it was worth every single penny. $200 is a great price. If you're looking for a buy-it-for-life percussion gun, this is the one you want.

I was able to replicate, thank you and repped. I didn't even need to do anything special to be a student, though I have a student email ID that is no where associated with my Best Buy account. So weird.

Yeah. That is true, you don't need a student ID.

Is that an email or something else? It says student deals at the top of the product page. Appreciate the help.

Battery, very silent, powerful, quality. You can never trust the 60$ items, could stop working anytime and also can't trust those cheap batteries (fire hazard)

How does this compare with cheaper percussion massager. I bought a blackleaf from Amazon deal 2 weeks back, feels very well built. Any difference between the two? This is 4.5x the price as the other one.
