Who cares if Subway is making money? Free food is free food. Not like it's 5 star dining anyways. Probably costs them a dollar to make most sandwiches so they're probably still making money anyways. Object of this is to get people to come back into the stores.

It doesn't cost much per sandwich for them. Less than $1 or less per 12 inch seems like the price I would imagine they cost if they give out b1g1. They always have coupons, alot of the time there are b1g1 or close to it use the coupons it comes up to like 40% off or so.

You're pretty far off. I knew an owner of 2 subways in San Diego. They already sold because of how Fk'd the company is and how they treat owners. Promotional Pricing across the board is the same for all franchises. How is that fair when cost of living here is twice what it is other places. Footlong's cost $2-$3 for just the ingredients (you have to order all their prepackaged crap), you add in all the other bs (hourly wages, rent, $0.60 royalty per sandwich, insurance workers comp, etc.) and you're losing money when selling at $5 each. FACT

That is not true. I can go to one subway that is one mile away from my house or go to the one that two miles away. Why would I go to the one that is two miles away? Because they are cheaper than the other one. Dollars cheaper on some stuff.

footlongs don't cost $1 of make them yourself at home if you purchase the stuff at ad sale prices or if you purchase the stuff on them from a deli warehouse supplier. I used to work at a food distribution company that delivered lunch meat and frozen bread and all types of other stuff. we could purchase as a regular customer price bit that is nowhere near the prices that big stores get when they purchase bulk amounts. now imagine that subway likely owns the warehouses and the much of their supply chain. some of them might but many are made with cheap ingredients that don't cost much.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. For promotions it's all the same pricing. Individual franchises can't opt out of $5 footlong and such deals.

But they can opt out of coupons. Did you ever read the coupons they send out fine print. Not all subways will accept them.

It was then I realized I don't ever want to give money to such a miserly company ever again. They try so hard to cut costs in the worst ways possible then wonder why their sales keep going down. We're not idiots, we know what you are doing and we are going to go elsewhere because of it. Meanwhile Publix is rocking on even though the prices on some of their subs have gone up, because they don't skimp on the quality and quantity.
