Does anyone know if it's better to go for the 16gb for music production?

I was after 16GB also but couldn't justify $400 more for my purposes.

Air + free AirPods from Apple for $899 or the Pro from BB for $1049?

What's your usage? If you're a student and only use Office and such I'd probably go for the Air.

I think the technology has gotten so good now that it's really hard to justify a pro. Now it seems like laptops are only portals for web based applications.

Now if Apple would add more than 8 gb standard, but I have the MBP 13 8 gb for work and have a lot of stuff open so I'm not sure if I'd even need the 16 gb. The OS is very well optimized.

It's so hard to say with these Macbooks - normally, yes... but at what price? $400 more for 8GB RAM is hard to justify. That's what keeps me from pulling the trigger.

Do you care for the display, and Touch Bar? If not, go with the Air. Lighter and as capable. Battery size is smaller but the battery life is already sick to begin with. I'm using one right now and I only charge once every 2/3 days.

I would go for a MBA with 512GB at $1100.

MBA and MBP are so similar in specs but a larger storage can last you much longer time.

That 256GB will last you about a sold week before it gets full and you're playing the offload-to-external-HD game for the next year.

IMO 8gb ram and 256gb storage is going to get outdated pretty quick or is outdated already for most things other than browsing the web.

I have bought my last 3 MacBooks second hand. Haven't had any issues as long as you know what to look for when buying. Second hand market for Apple products is really good as people change out quickly or realize they don't need such an expensive device for browsing the internet.

yup, I always sold my Macbook, those resale values are quite good. In the end they pay for themselves in long run.
