Good review from Rtings, but see a lot of mixed reviews from actual customers. I'm in the market for a new TV and currently use TCL so i am good with budget TVs as long as they're decent... but almost feel like i want to wait for the NEXT round of TVs to ensure we get HDMI 2.1 ports and other stuff (I know this TV has them, but mixed reviews give me caution)

Why the quantum leap in pricing from the H9F and H9G? I got my 65" H9F for $799 from Best Buy.

You obviously got your TV during a very good sale. This price on the U8G is the regular msrp.

As for why the higher price for the U8G this year blame the pandemic, supply chain issues and chip shortages. I've read that this TV was originally planned to be priced similarly to the H9F.

Hisense is a lottery whether you get one with no issues. They often have uniformity issues, and are plagued with quality defects. These are churned out cheaply because they avoid having a QA department, because most consumers don't look for flaws in their TV. If you get one with no issues, it'll have a great picture, one of the best. Rtings clearly got the diamond in the rough, because it barely matches plenty of negative review out there. Due to supply chain shortages this year, their standards seemed to have even lessened more than previously.

It's a gamble, so I'd suggest instead at least getting a TCL Class 5 series which is good on the low end, or look into better options from Sony, Samsung and LG.

I don't think this is actually a sale price. My Sony X900F just crapped out after less than 3 years and is going to be $600 to fix, so this one will probably be my next TV. I will probably wait until it's closer to $1,000 though. rtings likes it a lot, and I refuse to shell out $1500+ on a so-called "top-tier" brand after getting screwed by Sony. That being said, with the reported uniformity issues with this brand, I will most certainly be running it through the paces before deciding to keep it or exchange it.

Viewing angles on these are bad, which takes away the benefit of having a large TV in certain setups. Considered this but went with the Sony X90j in the same price range instead; also a VA panel, also has viewing angle issues, but the picture didnt look quite as bad on the U8G IMO.

It depends on how you use the tv. A lot of people are buying u8g for the fully supported hdmi 2.1 gaming features, which x90 doesn't have yet.

Agreed. That wasn't what I was looking for in a TV but if that's a consideration the U8G wins hands down.

This is not a deal. This website is a joke these days with these new people with money willing to pay anything.
