How does this compare to this one on Amazon (Spectre)? I love Monoprice but have a boy who wants to get them today (yes he is buying, yes kids are spoiled these days)

Sceptre Curved 27" Gaming Monitor up to 165Hz DisplayPort 144Hz HDMI Edge-Less AMD FreeSync Premium, Build-in Speakers Machine Black 2021 (C275B-1858RN) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089V2R...C2813SF57V

This: 2560x1440, 27 inches, 144hz
Spectre: 1900x1080, 27 inches, 165hz *on DisplayPort*, it's 144hz on HDMI 1, lower still on HDMI 2

If it's me, and I'm choosing between just these two? It's the Monoprice all day, everyday.

EDIT: Did this change? I would have swore you had the 32" MP monitor up. If its the MP at 27 its more of a toss up.

No matter - this is the one you guys should get if you need it "now"

I'm going to be honest.
For gaming and entertainment, this is great. Colors are deep and rich (a little on the darker side).

But when it comes to productivity, I absolutely hate this thing. Reading text on it for over a few hours strains my eyes compared to other monitors. Even scrolling up and down on it with a dark background will be annoying and blurs the texts together too. Settings don't help much.

Keep in mind, I use computer screens for the majority of my day and only use this one for videos/games now. If you don't work with computers and won't be on for longer than 2 or 3 hours then it's great.

If this is your first "good" monitor, you probably won't notice much difference and see this as an improvement. If you have any other decent monitor though, you may need to adjust a little bit for it. I tried to give it to my brother who uses a mac and he also said that the text is difficult to look at for long periods of time.

tl;dr
gaming/videos = great
text/productivity = headache

I have this monitor and use it for my school work, movies, and gaming. I do not get any eye strain and my eyesight is not perfect since I am farsighted and wear glasses. All in all, this monitor is highly recommended if you enjoy deep and bright colors and utilize its high refresh rate.
