The only downside I could find for the price on this model was the soldered ram so you can't add more( It does run at 4267MHz which is good for the graphics). The display is the main selling point here, it's hard to find a quality non glossy non touch screen display in a laptop this size and price.

Not a good keyboard. I got one earlier this year despite all the complaints I saw in reviews/reddit, and I ended up returning it. If this is your jam, more power to you, but if anyone is wondering, the keyboard is exactly as bad as people say it is.

This looks like an "upgrade" (newer intel chipset) to the S540 Costco had. My son has one that I need to take back (full size usb port is bent or mis-soldered - can't plug anything in without levering it. I know that's not going to last like that), but since I used a 100 off 500 coupon, I'm hoping they'll have something I can swap it for at Costco. This, with 12gb RAM would be perfect. Come on Costco, give it to me.

so if you want to use the thunderbolt port, then you need a dock than can support both power delivery and tb3?

Correct if not it will drain the battery.

You can find cheap dongles that supply power pass-through which will fix that.

Hopefully it's better than the keyboard on my Samsung Galaxy book s. I couldn't stand that one anymore and bought one of these.

And unfortunately with its high res screen and no dedicated video ram, 8 gigs will be a headache especially if you decide to connect another high res monitor through the displayport over thunderbolt or the hdmi 2.0 which it supports. With a 4k monitor i constantly hit that 8 gig mark with only chrome tabs.

Does it bother anyone else that the screen's border isn't flush like the Macbooks or Surface lineup? It seems a bit too utilitarian for my taste.

This Lenovo ThinkBook is more on the premium side. You may want to consider the screen resolution. This Lenovo would show "more", thus less scrolling down, etc. Also, the screen brightness, the ThinkBook has 300nits, may be higher per people comments I have seen before, and the higher the nits, the more visible in bright areas/rooms.

Only downside to this Lenovo is RAM, but my current computer I'm using (about 7 years old), still only had 8gb ram. For me, I get the Lenovo, but I'm would try hunt one with 16 gb ram to be more future proof.

What exactly is the issue with the keyboard? Did some searching but couldn't find people's complaints. Thanks!
