I disagree. Between three people we find this jug is adequate, assuming it stays full and you fill it every time you use it. Filled to the max (jug and reservoir) this can hold nearly 80 ounces (just checked). There's very few times I have to wait for it to filter, but having the smaller jug means we can easily put in a fridge if need be. Takes up less counter space too. And you can pass it around.
Also small enough to take with you when you're traveling, helps cut down on buying bottled water
That's about the least embarrassing thing that I could be doing. That being said, I just drink regular old city tap water. No need for further filtration IMO.
I just started researching and learning on this. Is TDS in 300 range bad? I found the link below and it says that was in the ideal range.

https://www.freshwatersystems.com...measure-it

TDS Water Chart
<50-250 ppm Low: Lacking minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, and zinc.
300-500 ppm Ideal: This level is the sweet spot for TDS in drinking water. The water most likely contains minerals and does not taste flat.
600-900 ppm Not great: Consider a reverse osmosis system to filter TDS.
1000-2000 ppm Bad: It is not recommended to drink water at this TDS level.
>2000 Unacceptable: A TDS level above 2000 ppm is unsafe and household filters can not properly filter this level of contamination.

These are nice but definitely small if you have more than one person in your house. We had this and switched to the 18 cup size and that works better. Even then we keep a gallon of cold unfiltered water in the fridge to keep the cycle going.

5 cups is too small even for one person. You will be constantly refilling it and you have to wait inbetween uses because the filtration is slow.

I think this is good for a person who wants a glass of water with dinner and a small cup afterward. Then they refill the pitcher and let it sit and filter while they enjoy that small glass. If you are an active person or someone who needs a lot of water on demand, this is simply too small.

>assuming it stays full and you fill it everytime

So we're in agreement then lol

It's not fast enough to continuously be used. You fill the pitcher to the fill line then have to wait for that water to be strained through. It would be super embarrassing to do that around other people. Seriously at that point, get a water dispenser or buy water bottles.

I like Brita. They should offer more options for large size pitchers.

Much smaller than the one we have for two adults and two kids. I wish ours was even bigger sometimes. Advice: make sure this size is the right fit for your family/home/refrigerator.

Larger size is also nice because you are more likely to get cold water (because you aren't constantly refilling it).

The Costco larger size is a few bucks more and comes with 2 filters. I believe I paid $18 in store. It is Kirkland brand but accepts basic Brita filter. Better yet, use the Kirkland filters for more savings.

I don't recommend this filter at any price, it cleans nothing. TDS before filter is 320 after filter 307...
best to use water filtering system "iSpring" or "APEC" 6-stage at least.

I have a very old one of these. About 6 years. Anyone think they need to be replaced? Does this plastic start degrading and leeching into the water. I had started making a habit of transferring filtered water into stainless growlers, but Brita should consider maybe making stainless pitchers.

I have this one and it works well, just kind of small for two people, still manageable. It's also closer to 8 cups because the filter is so low.
