Yeah, worth highlighting this because I didn't notice it when buying this for my kid -- and my kid just pointed it out to me:

You need to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online to play this online. That's an additional $4 MONTHLY cost on top of this $3.50 "deal." (Or $8/3 mos. or $20/12 mos.)

Meh. Not fun anymore since they removed being able to type messages during meetings. Makes the game more difficult and less organic

Eh..I feel like that's the case for every online game. Then you take into account it's massive popularity, especially with kids, and the fact you're supposed to be working cooperatively and it's no surprise the chat and oftentimes the people playing it is terrible.

wait, what? How are you supposed to figure out who the killer is if you can't type during meetings? I've never played on Switch, only on PC back when the game first came out. But the whole point of the game is to identify who the killer is and the fun is trying to figure out who is lying and who is telling the truth. The game is best played on voice comms for this reason.

Exactly. I guess their rationale was to prevent profanity, but the fun was sucked out of it when you can't put on a poker face or communicate on what you've seen.
