Bought one a couple weeks ago when it was 140. I challenge anyone to find a phone of this quality for this price brand new. One of the commenters said it was slow. I disagree, it's running Android 11, and doesn't seem to be any slower than my Galaxy S10. For the person wanting to get back into Android phones, this is the perfect opportunity to get a flagship from a couple generations ago for cheap. Bummer that there is no headphone jack, and the top and bottom bezel are larger than the newer model phones, but that leaves good amount of space for the stereo speakers on top and bottom, they are better than any other phone I've ever had. Again, I want to point out that this is running Android 11, and even though it is not being updated any further, it's amazing to get Android 11 for this price.

So the Woot deal from 2 weeks ago is back except now they're saying "brand new". Last time, they were advertising these as reconditioned, but when I got mine it was brand new and the battery health was at 100%.

this phone is slow and is only going to get slower and frustrating from this point forward. battery, OS and apps are getting outdated . . .

. . . this is not worth the price . . . should be below $90 price tag if not lower.
$90 or $150 only if this phone had the two LTE bands I want. This phone won't be slow in my hands. I'm specialized in dealing with old phones. I have no problem with old phones as old as Android 4. If you know how to use it, Android 4 with 2gb RAM is fine. If not, Android 11 and 8GB RAM is not enough for you.

I can't speak to the quality of the deal, but as someone who's had this phone for 4 years, I can say it's a great phone. While it certainly can't compete with today's flagships, if you're looking for a good phone without spending $1,000 (or even 1/2 that), this is a good phone to buy.

fyi - Google stopped issuing bug fixes and security patches for this phone in October 2020.

I loved my Pixel 2 when it came out - the night sight camera was great, and Google Assistant finally became something useful (much moreso than Siri).

But…it's five years old. Not a horrible choice if you really need a new phone and you're running on empty, but go in with modest expectations.

So I'm rocking the XS Max. Any reason to switch to this honestly? Been thinking about Android again (used to have Nexus devices) but haven't since the Nexus 5. Anyone switch recently and can give me a run down?
You have the latest $1000+ iPhone and you are debating switching to 3-4 year old phone that costs less than $200 and asking us to "honestly" give you a run down on if this is a good idea? Yeah, it's a great idea.

I just went the other way. Testing out an Xr (TW deal) with my daily driver being a 4a 5G.

Things I miss already that the Pixel 2 XL has:
Amoled screen
Unlimited google photo backup
Customizable Home Screen
Battery percentage in notification bar
Immediate unlock with fp reader
Double click home button to quick open camera
Hold power button for Google home quick settings

Things I'm liking:
iPhone feels faster, slightly, but maybe it's the newness
Mute switch
Build quality
Integration with AirPod pros

Still getting used to it. Kinda a pain to set it all up, but also like tinkering. If you get this one, you could probably add lineage or other rom to get the newer features. I assume there would be equivalent complaints you'd have depending how far in the ecosystem you are of either.

You do realize the XS Max was released Sept 2018, right?

People who write that it is outdated, what can they offer in return? A terrible Motorola on 636 SD? Tell me this is a joke

I love seeing the same comments every post how this doesn't have update. Really? At $135 there really is not a lot of competition, especially if you are on Verizon. Best part, most people just need a basic phone for social media and a decent camera. This will rock both categories. No one is expecting this to beat a flagship, but this is either a good backup phone or a good phone for those rocking older phones.

Band 39 and 71. Since the 4G LTE bands are slowly phasing out, I might as well get a phone with all 4G bands - for my money's worth. Why have regrets?

This phone with Android 11 and Snapdragon 835 is certainly not outdated. If you want the best experience, use a personal computer.
