For those interested, iTunes has select Criterion digital HD films on sale for $4.99 each. These titles are not MA (Movies Anywhere) compatible. Lowest prices posted for a lot of them. This deal also beats the previous frontpage deal from some titles.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

I imagine if you buy it on iTunes, if/when it ever comes out as 4K, you will get it for "free".

It depends on The Criterion Collection...

Grabbed all Kurosawas, even though they are on HBOMax right now, been wanting to own these digitally for years.
Any chance the Kurosawa movies are ever upgraded to 4K?

Is the Brazil on iTunes actually the Criterion version? There is no mention of Criterion on the iTunes page. There's also no commentary or other extras so what does it mean to be a Criterion version? It is the longer cut of the film at least

If the studio doesn't say The Criterion Collection then it's not their version of the film. No extras on Criterion releases either, a shame.

The current iTunes version of 'Brazil' is the Universal 132 minute release (the compromise between the studio and Terry Gilliam). It is not the Criterion release of the 142 minute director's cut. It's still a great film and it looks good in HD.

I'm not sure either, for Blue the web page lists [apple.com] the "Studio" as "The Criterion Collection" but there's nothing extra. No extra subtitles or audio track, the English is hard coded and that's it. But it's not like it's available in a different version in iTunes.

Man, I'm tempted to grab all the Chaplin just on the odd chance I'd need to watch them on the go. Great, great deals!
