Got this for my gf on prime day for about this price($86 after tax). She liked it but wanted a bigger screen and buttons so she returned it and is getting the Oasis($249) and using the return amount to help fund it.

Hmmm. Upgrade from the Paperwhite 6th edition or just wait? I do like the idea of the flush screen design instead of the bezel.

Without the protruding bezels, the E Ink panel will be hitting the ground directly when dropping your Kindle face down. I've dropped my 7-Gen Kindle Paperwhite numerous times and it still works.

I suppose that's true, but I keep mine in a case.

Tempted to buy my first kindle... after my die-hard Nexus 7 tablet went missing...

Anyone know what the difference is between the "International version" and the regular one?

Also what does "ad-supported" entail... will be reading only to have to stand some 30-sec e-ink ad-banner or something?

I can't imagine as hard as it is to focus enough on a book to compete with all other firms of entertainment these days, I'd have to watch commercials while reading... Say it ain't so

I've been considering getting into digital books over hard covers but the price isn't so much different and sometimes even more expensive which is already absurd considering how easy people bypass the purchase necessary options

So the size of the text matters after all

There are no ads while reading, just an ad on the screen when the device is off. You can complain about it to Amazon chat, and they'll remove the ads for free. It's what I did.

How do you complain about it? They don't try to upsell you to remove ads for a fee?

From what I've heard from others, they don't really ask questions. I told them the Kindle was for my child (he does use it sometimes) and I didn't want him targeted with ads, just too make sure they would do it for free.
