I don't have personal experience, so I couldn't tell you.

However, one of the biggest differences is the purpose. This is a gaming headset and includes a really high quality microphone with Sennheiser quality speakers and build.

This headset comes with 2 cables. The shorter cable has a stereo output and microphone input integrated into the same jack (TRRS). The longer cable has 2 jacks for plugging into the stereo output and microphone input on your computer or other audio device. Here is a video to explain the differences: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4hy63fEgA0 The easy way to remember is count how many black bands are on the jack. Generally,

1 black band = mono (single channel)
2 black bands = stereo (2 channels)
3 black bands = stereo plus mic input (3 channels)

My Sennheiser Game Ones from 2/2016 are still in like new condition, but I only use it when voice is needed.

Have heard they're better in many ways (only owned the PC38x). These are more detailed because of the slightly different tuning, better soundstage, and come with two different sets of ear pads (one you see on all the pictures, and the other is set of velour pads). I will also say that while I find this headset comfortable, the clamping force is a little tight even by Sennheiser headphone standards. Ears and headband feel great though. This is 100% a better sounding headset than other gamer focused ones in this price range as far as clarity and soundstage is concerned, and is one of the only open-backed ones in the mainstream. The only one I've heard can really compete in sound is the Penrose, which is a wireless planar magnetic headphone for $300 that has had some technical problems with its audio cutouts and it's app support.

Anyway to answer most other's people question: from what I've heard this isn't a must have upgrade over the PC37x (which is currently being sold by Drop for $95). However if you're in the market for a headset and are used to the sound if gaming headsets, these are pretty great. These aren't up to the level of more dedicated audiophile headphones, but they're also $130 with a built in microphone and two sets of pads. Also in comparison with the Phillips X2, these are nowhere near as bass heavy as those, but those are very bloated bass heavy headphones as is. If your definition of good audio quality is tons of bass, get those. If you want more balanced and clear sounding headphones, get these or even the PC37x
