Potential security concerns with this one along the lines of Huewai as TP-Link is a Chinese company.

Setting up the units, themselves won't be an issue - I've got ethernet cable run to where they will go. I'm more thinking about all the devices I've got connected to the network.
Good point. Yeah, I had to reconnect all my devices one by one... which was a pain. Time I hadn't accounted for. But I don't know how you'd get around that.

i've heard mixed reviews on dual band vs tri band... Some people have said no difference in speeds on wifi6 with the tri band.. I'm kinda new to this and hence would let the experts chime in.. since i was looking for one and saw this on the new costco flier I posted this..
Dual band vs Triband is a very mute point for 95% of all people (made up the ratio). If your on a lower speed tier like 500Mbps or even 1Gbps (you dont get that full 1Gbps wirelessly) you will never saturate a wifi 6 channel enough unless you literally constantly transferring large files within the network to choke your system.

The only other main benefit of the triband vs dual band is when your using wireless backhaul the connection because its independent is usually a little bit stronger. Which will help in congested areas, not a lot but some.

Just got the eero 6 three pack at BestBuy for $180. But that's only one router and two add-ons. I think I'm having buyer's remorse...
You definitely have buyers remorse, the Eero are not known for their speed they are actually one of the slowest wifi 6 systems out of all of them, but they are usually pretty stable. The non pro gets speeds usually around 300 Mbps averaged, and the Pro models around 500Mbps averaged.

I would go with the X60 in a heart beat if that was my only options. I paid a bit more $280 when the Tp-Link AX5700 were on sale and am using those beasts.

How does it compare to the Eero 6 at costco?

Look above.

My TP-Link COVR-3902 seems to be on its last legs (The extender won't connect anymore) and they stopped providing support at the beginning of this year. It might be time to jump to a newer system; I just hate to stay with T-Link given I only got a few years out of my current one.

I also HATE setting up new systems. There always seems to be an issue with at least one or two of the devices.
Dont change your wireless security protocol to the latest version and your fine. Whatever your using for your wireless just keep the name identical, password identical, and keep the security encryption/protocol the same and it should be seemless.

TP-Link is not part of the watch list your fine, your illicit web surfing habits are not going to be exposed to the world.

I mentioned how above, when you changed routers you changed your level of security, different level of security means you have to reconnect everything one by one.

Trying to decide if it's better to go with like six of these or 2 of the Asus XT8's. Currently have 800mb service but is proximity to a hub better than the advantage of having a dedicated back channel wifi with the tri band from a speed and performance perspective? Also not sure if that many nodes starts to drag the network down for other reasons. First time looking at mesh networks for our new home so thanks for any advice!

have ordered this as well as the M9 tri-band to see which one works better for my household. I have a 3-level house where the wifi is good in the first and second floor but not that good in the basement. I had previously used Fios Extender over MoCA and signal was great but can't do that anymore since I switched to internet only.. Though I have wifi 6 router, other than my cell phones all devices are still wifi5 or lower.

I really want to buy this for my home. I got the x20 set for a friend during the Prime Day sale. I have been thoroughly impressed as I've ventured in and around their entire home, including behind with a large backyard without losing signal. They also have problems from time to time and gave me permission to set it up with me as the owner for future troubleshooting purposes preventing me from having to drive to their home. That said, I haven't had to troubleshoot the x20 system since a few days after Prime Day when it was installed.

I have these and they work great. I use a wired (MOCA) backhaul for the two satellite units. The only thing I wish it had was a dedicated 2nd vlan where I could setup a 2.4ghz only wifi network. I do this with the guest network, but then I'm stuck without a real guest network.

Bought this 8 months ago. Was working great, but eventually started to degrade in WiFi speed and recently one of my devices wouldn't connect anymore. Then the router bricked. Power cycle of modem and router didn't do anything. The router would not cycle back on. It would stay stuck in its powering on sequence but never fully be ready. No solutions online as others have the same issue with no resolution. Returned back to Costco and replaced with linksys velop. So far so good.

Did you have a V1 system? I heard there are issues with V1 vs V2 but not sure if those have been address via firmware updates, etc or not.

My brother got one from Costco a few months ago and he got a V1, I ordered mine 2 days ago and I got a V2 yesterday and set it up last night. I had to get rid of a few D-Link switches and swap it with TP-Link ones, but it works great, much much better than my Unifi 3 AP solution.

I picked up the Walmart 2-mesh version of the X60 v1 [walmart.com] yesterday for $149 since I don't really need a 3-pack for my 3000 sq ft home.

In the process of talking to tech support, I learned a few things that rub me the wrong way:
  1. The TP Link HomeShield app keeps flagging the firmware as being outdated yet there is no available firmware for download. The factory version is all you get and they don't know if/when anything new would be available in the US.
  2. You cannot customize the firewall -- this part hurts. There is no IPv4 firewall configuration. For IPv6, you can blacklist an IP already on your network but that's about it. I've always used my router as the first line of defense. At least I can lock down my server using its own firewall, but what about home security cameras (especially if port forwarding is turned on)? Of course TP Link customer service says it's "impossible for someone to get past their router"... impossible, eh?
  3. With only one spare port on the back, I also need to buy a switch to hard wire the server and security system like I had in the past.

Am I crazy for letting these things bother me enough to consider returning it?
