Thanks for the heads up on the lack of a drop sensor. However on Page 8 of the manual it does say: Anti-drop sensors can prevent the robotic cleaner from tumbling down stairs and steep drops in most cases. They may work less efficiently if dirty or used on carpet/reflective/very dark colored floors.

I have watched it clean 4 times today and each time it will go past the edge of the top step then back up across the entire width of the staircase. But the fact of the the potential risk I decided to simply put a no go zone instead so I never have to worry about it.

The only problem I am having is that it does work so well when use the Room function and it will run less than 10 minutes then it goes back to the charging dock with 58% battery left. This room is not that big but it definitely didn't go over every spot. I will try it again tomorrow with a full charge and see if it make a difference.
It went to the edge of stairs and got stuck with both wheels spinning at the edge. Another time it fell down the stairs entirely. I now have the stairs as a no-go zone and it avoids getting too close.

Ya it's weird with the drop sensor. From the amazon product page -
"Please note:
1.There is no sensor at the end of the device. In order to prevent falling, the device cannot drive backwards. Please use the remote control or APP to turn it to the left or right."

Some reviews also comment on it. Basically it sounds like it has drop sensors, but it cannot drive backwards. So if it gets too close to the edge, it can only try to turn, but that's a risky maneuver and could potentially tip over while making this turn. Being able to just backup would be the safe option but it can't.

But the no-go zone is a nice backup to have.

As for it running through the room in 10 mins, you can check the map after it's done to see exactly where it went. It will show it's exact track through the room. There is also an option to have it go over twice. I haven't tried it but supposedly it will go over the entire room twice instead of just once for better vacuuming.

I'm very happy with this purchase and the only thing I can't answer yet is the longevity of this unit. It maps the floor on the first use and I used it 3 times without any issues with the unit falling off the stairs but I decided not to take the risk and created the no-go zone after hearing from other users. This way I never have to worry about it. During my tests I've observed YTE is capable of backing up but then there's always a what-if. After getting the YTE I have moved my Yeedi (which I got on Prime Day) to upstairs and no problem of falling off the stairs.

I'm using it on the lowest suction and it cleans well. The average clean time is about 1 hour while my Yeedi runs till the battery drops low. When it's done I run it again since there's plenty of battery life is left. I empty the dust bin after each use and wash it with water then take it outside to dry. My concern of washing is the battery contact on the bottom of the bin and the wire that goes to the side of the bin that connects the unit with water over time. I tried the suction to medium and high just to test it out but I don't think I will need it and it's a bit noisy while working at home. It's good to have it and perhaps I can use the higher suction and run it when I am not at home. You can't go wrong at this price.

The only thing I wish I had look more into units with mopping capability but that will run about $75-100 more.

Got it a week ago when it was $100 after the coupon, actually really like it, the mapping/navigation works, but I can get stuck in tight corner, so I would only use it when someone is around. I see it more as a toy that can do some light cleaning, so not bad for the price.

2 issues, the biggest is the dropping down stairs but moot if you're using it on a single floor.

2nd issue is the map detection, sometimes when I have it rerun it won't detect its on the same map and will start creating a new one, not a big deal except if you were depending on no go zones to keep it from falling down stairs it could potentially suicide.

honestly, i cant believe this thing only cost a $100. Easily worth $200 compared to everything else on the market. Maybe because of the staircase flaw?

Still $120 after $50 off. I bought one for my son and used it on my upstairs before I delivered it to him. No complaints. No problems with the stairs. Very comparable to the Wyze I bought earlier for myself and even has a remote which the Wyze did not.. Still waiting for the multi-floor update for the Wyze so I just bought another YTE for me for the upstairs. Won't have to worry about moving the Wyze up and down the stairs now.

Bought one from Ace Winclou instead of YTE Direct for $169-50=$119 - but it does not ship till October - I am not in a rush - so worth the extra $10 savings.

I am the OP and I'm surprised to see so many replies today lol. I am just reporting to say I am very happy with this purchase also. There are ppl saying the map won't save, but you need to wait till it finish the whole area and go back to the base before saving, and the saving option is hidden somewhere hard to find. The lidar and the mapping is very good.

So after two months of once a week usage, my vacuum all of a sudden got much quieter and lost suction. Checked suction settings, made sure it's firmware was up to date, cleaned everything, reset the device. Issue remained.

Check the one star reviews, and most reported having the exact same issue eventually happening to them. Buyer beware.
