This thing is amazing, I have a Malamute that is not happy with the high temperatures we've been having. I ended up picking this up when it was at full price and my boy really enjoys it to the point where it's pretty much taken over as his new bed. Definitely worth picking up if you have a cold climate dog.

Anyone have feedback on this mat? Seems decent deal but I'm worried about the smell that some reviews mentioned.

Kinda has a "New Shoes" smell when you first open it, nothing too bad.

How does this thing work? Can't find any info about the cooling process on the listing.

I've looked into these before and I believe they "wick" the heat away from the animal into the pad and eventually the pad itself warms up.

Matt uses non-toxic cooling gel similar to that of the cooling mattresses for beds. Keeps the temperature lower than the ambient temperature around it and it draws out heat from the body, of the animal, or the person. After the mat has started to become near ambient temperature just leave it unused for 30 minutes or so and it'll cool back down similar to recharging itself except it doesn't take any batteries.

We have one. Had it for a few years now. Our GSD loves it.

Sometimes it gets bad reviews because some folks say it doesn't get cool. It's not going to help just sitting outside. We keep it in the fridge and it gets nice and chilly, then take it out after a walk on a warm day. He almost dives on it when I get it out.

To be fair, friends have one and their golden just chewed it and it got gross and jelly.

You can't fool us dog! Hand your hoomans phone back to them. Still you're a very good boy/girl for wanting to get them something

Yup. This definitely does not qualify as a hot deal. It's spam.

I doubt it. I am not aware of any technology that passively cools like this claims to. I have a "cooling" pillow with a gel pad on one side that is supposed to cool your head while sleeping. Does it f*&%! laugh out loud And of course, while I can tell you how useless it is, your dog can't. He/she is just glad to not have to sit on concrete.

Agreed - you can also usually find them at Ollie's, Gabe's, TJ Maxx, etc for 15-20 dollars.

I have one of these for a little over a year and both my dogs love it, they lay on it all the time. It gets cool when laid on or you can put it in the fridge/freezer. Won't stay super cool if you take it outside but great for inside. I've laid on it a few times after mowing the lawn. If you can find it at cheaper places like others have said, go for it.

There is a slight smell when it first came, someone compared it to new shoes type smell and that's fairly accurate. It doesn't last long. It cleans up easily too, my dog peed on it a little after surgery the other day but it cleaned up quick with a damp paper towel.

It will be slick and slide around if on a tile or hard flooring surface.
