Have this switch and it's been working like a champ for a few years now. Will be changing over to NETGEAR 48-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Managed Pro Switch (GS748T) as I was able to pick it up for $48.00.

I currently have two 8 port switches daisy chained. I assume using one would be more efficient.

I would stick to 2 or more if size and location is important.

Chain vs no chain, speed is about the same.

Love the Wi-Fi comment. I have three runs to each of my rooms (only one to each bathroom) to ensure I have plenty of options. My Wi-Fi is only for smart home items and everything else is hardwired.

If you really need 24 ports, I would highly recommend you buy a Managed switch. It will give lot of options that you could use in the future. You can always sell this and buy new one later, but I hate replacing equipment when it's working as expected.
