Stay away from this at any price.

The echo auto I received was not very responsive. It worked around half the time.

I called tech support six times. Each time they told me the same thing -- reset, re-pair the Bluetooth, let it run in the background, turn battery usage to high. It never solved the problem.

I asked for a replacement unit. They refused to send me a new unit and kept insisting I try to troubleshoot it. When I finally got too frustrated with the unit, I asked to return it. They told me the 30 day return period had ended and I couldn't return it. After elevating the matter, they finally returned my money.

My echo auto has been good. Good hands free music playing and Google maps directions. At times (louder road noises) it can get less responsive, but overall I think it's fine. It was $15 on prime day so if you're holding out for the cheapest price, BF will probably be back there.

What battery usage are you talking about?

On your mobile phone. This thing is basically a clumsy and unnecessary interface to functionality you already have on your phone.

Main thing is to set up an automation to start the Alexa app when you're in the car (i.e., when it connects via Bluetooth). Solves most of the issues.

These seem like they would be nice in vehicles that don't have bluetooth but do have a 3.5mm port. I currently use a Kinivo BTC450 for BT and streaming music. I settled on the Kinivo because of it amazing voice call sound quality. How is the Echo Auto's sound quality for voice calls????

Same experience here. Such a turd of a product. Even if it worked well, $20 should be the MSRP anyway.

I've had the opposite experience and no real complaints, but I may have had different expectations for this thing when I bought it. My car doesn't have bluetooth and I wanted something more flexible for music than my 15 year ipod nano.

This auto-connects to the phone when I start up the car and it hears me pretty well with road noise and the stereo up. Sometimes it misses an Alexa command, but I also have a pretty soft voice and it's setup on the passenger side center vent.

The sound quality is solid enough for me, especially for a bluetooth connection. I haven't tested the voice call functionality mostly because I don't talk on the phone much. I got it for $15 on prime day and I'd agree $20 should be about the max price on this.

Can't make cellular calls

The "make calls" function is limited to Echo calling (not placing or answering cellular phone calls) so it is a poor replacement for a decent BT adapter.

Terrible product!!! Just don't understand why they still carry this. It never stays paired and is more trouble than it is worth.

EXACTLY! most of us can say hey Google or hey Siri and get the exact same functions. Many can even say Alexa, since they have the Amazon app. This thing seems to be completely pointless, which I guess is why it has gotten so cheap

Yeah I got one on a deal when it came out a few years ago but can't figure out why I wouldn't just use my phone. I never set it up.

Alexa pisses me off enough at home why would I want her to constantly play the wrong songs in my car?

I miss the days when you could make her say anything with the Simon says command. If connected to a blue tooth speaker it could be in the other room so you could punk your friends.
