If you have a gaming PC, you don't need a cable anymore (in case you weren't aware)

Yeah, air link or virtual desktop. Virtual desktop is pretty amazing if you haven't tried it

You have to use the in game music with beat saber out of the box, but there is a huuuuge fan site dedicated to mods or you can make your own. Requires minimum hacking

Yea I have no intentions of buying the Link Cable. They already got me for the Elite w/ Battery strap and a VR Cover face cushion as well as I dont even know how many games in the Oculus store when I have a ton in Steam.
You can buy a generic cable that works just fine. Doesn't need to be the expensive Oculus one.

You know I haven't tried Virtual Desktop to be honest. I figured since AirLink was free, the official solution and I was running on a perfect network/setup and it didn't seem to work for me why would Virtual Desktop?! But perhaps that thinking is erroneous and I should give Virtual Desktop a try.
it's hard to believe but VD is way more stable than the OFFICIAL AirLink. Doesn't make sense, I know, but it's true. The only downside is VD isn't compatible with a few Occulus exclusive games, but Lone Echo isn't one of them.

I know this is a basic question, but: I have the quest 2. After I buy this via the website....does it just download to my PC? How do I launch it ? I know you can use virtual desktop , etc, but where does the game download to ? Something like steam launcher ?
You'll need to download the oculus software on your computer, and once you get your link or air link working, it will load into the rift software.

I used Virtual Desktop when I started VR with my old computer and GTX 970. Worked great but resolution was bit low due to the graphics card (was playing Alyx at the time). I'm now running AirLink with an RTX 3070 and AirLink works great as well. I'm sure Virtual Desktop would work still, but one advantage AirLink has is that I can play games like GTAV and Red Dead Redemption 2 modded to VR with AirLink or a cable, but not Virtual Desktop.

Be sure your computer can do USB3 or the cable won't work well enough to do more than set up Virtual Desktop (that was the situation with my first VR computer). Which means you also need to make sure you buy a USB3 USB-C cable. The 4 for $12 cables I bought work great but they are no longer available. Here is the link to them for reference though: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075H7YLPV

I only got a cable for comparison to make sure I wasn't missing out on something (doesn't seem to be worth being tied down to me). My AirLink with wired PC and WiFi 5 router to the quest work great and wireless is so much better than having to worry about a cable.

You're referring to AirLink? You know, even with a wired/Wifi 6 full Ubiquiti network, being 10ft away from an AP and gaming PC running an RTX 2080 I cant get AirLink to work well/reliably for me. So I've mostly just resorted to native Quest 2 games which thankfully I have Beat Saber for because thats honestly what I play the most of BY FAR.
Very odd, airlink is flawless for me. Punching through a floor too.

No doubt. Fantastic game. I want Lone Echo so bad, but refuse to give Oculus/Facebook another dime of my money.

It's less about the computer hardware (aside from network connection) as it is network connection from your headset to your computer. Latency is the biggest problem people have issues with.
I hardwire into a AC1200 router and don't have any issues.

I started crying when my toddler burst into the room asking me to go to the park. I was almost in tears as I had forgotten all about this reality and entered another one. And yes, of course we went to the park right then :-)

This is an insanely good game for $10. Highly recommended.

If you like Beat Saber, I'd definitely recommend trying out Synth Riders. With the latter, it's ridiculously easy to add songs from the community (albeit a smaller one than the Beat Saber community).

I own both Beat Saber and Synth Riders and have ended up playing the latter a lot more due to more varied mechanics, better default music (IMHO), and the aforementioned ease of adding songs from the community without any hacking initially or for updates.

Make sure your PC is plugged into ethernet and not using WiFi. Also, using your PC as a mobile hotspot has been really helpful for my buddy, he said he gets much less latency that way. You should also go into your settings and make sure your router is using the 5ghz band and not the 2.4ghz one. Mine was not working with 2.4 but when I switched to 5ghz everything worked great.
