I've had both this one and the older Ring Stick Up Cam, 2nd generation. If you have a place for the wired model, get the older generation. It is significantly better than the 3rd generation. The 2nd generation wired stick up cam is equivalent to the current Elite Stick Up Cam.

The current wired models work the same as the battery models (i.e. do not record before motion, take longer to activate live stream etc). You can generally get the 2nd generation wired from Amazon refurbished for around $60. I've bought 6 and only had an issue with 1. Ring overnighted me the new Elite Stick Up the next day and I was back up and running. I haven't noticed a difference between the new Elite Stick up cam and the 2nd generation wired Stick Up cam.

TLDR: this is fine if you want the battery model. But if you have a place to plug into an outlet, get the 2nd generation stickup cam. It's cheaper and works better.

Nope. They're both 1080p cameras.

The 2nd generation also has both 2.4Ghz and 5ghz wifi connection ability while the 3rd generation only has 2.4ghz.

Doesn't the 3rd generation have a sharper image then the 2nd generation?

Sure. It's currently $79. But it goes on sale pretty regularly for $59. This is "refurbished". But like I said before, of the 6 I bought, only 1 has had an issue. And Ring covered it under warranty and replaced it. I've had them for about 6 months.

Yeah, they did. But to be honest, I really don't notice a difference between the two.

Seems that the wired and the battery versions are both sold at $75.
Which is better?

Then get the battery one, the wireless one can also be charged wired. You just need to buy an extra cord for it. You can also connect it to a solar panel.

Wish I had known this before I bought a bunch of 3rd gen stick up cams. Bought them refurb on prime day when they were $60 and used 40% off credit cards points offers stacked with Amazon CC 5% cashback dropping price to $34 each, but still would have preferred having the features of 2nd gen. I incorrectly assumed 3rd gen would be better.

I wish ubiquiti had a battery powered stick up cam. Or if you could integrate other ones with their nvr. Not a fan of paying monthly fees and giving Amazon more stuff to data mine and sell for free.
