The major selling point of the 2021 model is HDMI 2.1 support. But, given Sony's track record thus far (with the X900H and the X90J), I'm actually not sure if any of Sony's 2021 models can or will fully support the bandwidth required for 4K120 4:4:4 HDR10, because of the Mediatek debacle.

The question you should ask yourself is: what will you use the TV for, how often do you upgrade your electronics, and do you typically want to take advantage of the latest and greatest tech? For most people watching TV and video, HDMI 2.1 is not a reason to upgrade. For gamers, there's some allure.
It's a beautiful screen if only this was the 65".
2021 has the new processor and 4K 120HZ but $600 more. I don't think the new features are worth $600 and you won't care about it after 2 years but cash is cash!

You can buy the 2021 model in 2022 and will run into the same dilemma. From a value perspective, it's better to buy last year's model unless you need to have the latest and greatest.

Any benefit getting the 2021 model? I know it has the new cognitive processor.

If you have to have TV lead Dolby Vision and two HDMI 2.1 inputs, I'd get the A80J. I have the 65" A8H, and I love it. You can game on it, but it's meant for TV shows and movies. A lot of potential OLED buyers skipped this model because it doesn't support HDMI 2.1 feature set.

Picked up a 65 inch almost brand new from private seller today for $1,250. The picture quality is really great, I would say it's better than the CX that we already have.

Any fears on "fair" condition? Interested in doing that myself.

This is an amazing TV. Doesn't have HDMI 2.1, but the picture quality is absolutely stunning. Check out picture settings here for a good baseline. https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...k.3143518/

I followed them and they're perfect for me.

Also got mine like new from a private seller. $650 for a 55". I've been having a blast rewatching all my favorite movies and shows.

Damn! That's a steal. It's really great picture quality. I tried with Xbox and it works fine, but after all I hardly play any games.

If you can check it before you leave BB then you can avoid the hassle returning it.

How does this compare with the X900H (or Costco X90CH)?
