I disagree, I have been using it for the past year or so. Great build quality for the price!

not a great price, stay away from this laptop. Flimsy build quality, not worth the price.

Its just uncommon because DDR4 DIMMs are mostly produced in 4, 8, and 16GB capacity increments. From time to time models pop up with these odd configurations. It's a cheap upgrade for the OEMs to make when they need justification for the price point, or they're just trying to get rid of some odd/specific DIMMs. Since more RAM is more breathing room for multitasking, it's a nice perk for the consumer. Most people buying a laptop of this spec would probably be fine at 8GB, though, so I wouldn't suggest that as your selling point over a better deal with 8.
Id argue that 8 gigs is the bare minimum now. I'd much rather have the 12. Hopefully they put a 4 gig stick in there that can be further upgraded.

To get the price to $649.99 you have to sign up for Best Buy Student Deals (students and parents of students are eligible) and then on the product page make sure to check the box "Save $100 with your Student Deal" before adding to cart. For non-students, the price is $749.99.
Does the $100 student discount apply to all the laptops?

Glossy???
I didn't think that they still manufacture them.
I recall when cheapo laptops with glossy screens had decent picture quality...even though their performance was subpar.

Pass on Lenovo. My buddy bought this in December and the screen and hinge broke on its on just from normal use. Not covered under warranty. Common issue if you Google it.

Weird memory configuration. And 12GB will mean this thing will take you well into the 1st quarter of 2022. If the memory was removable, might be worth considering. Maybe invest in a soldering iron too?

I did too. The screen messed up 3 times. I am super delicate with my equipment. They sent it in for repairs and the incorrectly installed the screen. Finally I just got a giftcard thanks to Geek Squad.
Just to be clear, you also dropped your laptop 2-3 feet?

But the Mac isn't for everyone. There are applications that are supported in Windows environment only. I use Microsoft Access a lot in my work, and MacOS isn't compatible with this Office application

Completely disagree, this is the best mid range option available right now. Given the price build quality, specs, and screen are excellent.

got this last year during BF for $549ish

pro:
great specs, screen is excellent, good speed, looks good, works well. light and thin

con:
made of metal ... cause it to bend when falling off from sofa to carpet 2-3 ft ..the bend had caused the power button to be so sensitive that i had to take it out so it doesn't constantly being pushed.
Interesting. Usually made of metal is a pro. I would pin the con on Dropping It Off The Sofa
