I have 2 pairs of ECCOs and I cannot stress this enough, they run small. Use their measurement guide on the site so you don't have to send back like I did. Usually 2-3 sizes smaller than American shoes.

If I measure my foot in CM (29.5), it matches up to a size 46, which is labeled as a size 12/12.5 on their size chart, and 12 is my usual size. That being said, I have actually worn size 45 in some eccos in the past. I found some reviews about the one I ordered running smaller than typical eccos, so I went with the 46 this time. I think you are way off with 2-3 sizes smaller.

I used to sell eccos and had a pair of hiking shoes for many years. I used to think the sole material was basically indestructible, but after about 15 years the material of the soles deteriorated -almost like it chemically changed- so that I could take chunks out of it with just my fingernail. When selling them, I would actually show that even with a razor blade it was very difficult to cut the sole. Most people wouldn't keep shoes that long, but something that I thought was interesting.

EDIT: I measured my largest foot according to their size chart guide using the wall and paper method and it's actually right at 29cm, which is spot on with the size 45 that I have worn in eccos in the past.

It's funny how everyone has different experiences and opinions on what true to size really is. I'm just stating the facts for me. I wear size 12 in most shoes, occasionally some shoes fit better in size 11/11.5. I typically need 13 in Nike. Maybe you have wide feet, so you like a larger size for shoes that run narrow. My feet are very narrow. Based on what you are saying, I would need a 48 or 49, which would be way too big.

Okay. My experience from last year was that I typically wear a size 9-10 for ASICS/Nike and dress shoes. When I ordered two casual 9.5 (43) ECCOs last year they were way too large. I measured according to their website and it put me in the 7.5-8 range. I sent them back and got the new size and they were correct. The shoes are great and I wear them daily. I'm simply encouraging people to check the measurements and not just assume the sizes translate directly.

Oh, ok, I actually misunderstood what you said in the original post. "Usually 2-3 sizes smaller than american shoes" sounded like you were saying they run small, but you are actually saying they run big. I could see 2 sizes in some cases relative to other shoes that run small like Nike, but not 3.

I have a pair of ECCOs and kept the box label so I would know the size. In gym shoes I have a 10.5 but in ECCO it is 9-9.5. The older Florsheim shoes it was 9.5. So the box said 43 and i ordered those. I think the last time I purchased in store and they slightly stretched them for me. So we will see.

I had Plantar fasciitis so I have a custom shoe insert that fits the ECCOs perfectly.

Fingers crossed, but if the size fits, this is a fantastic price. 2 shoes under $150.
