Note that if you are ordering any of these household items, the price offered to you for any item depends on which store you have selected as your default store (regardless of where you pick it up or have it shipped). There can be as much as 30% difference.

The way to get around it is to always have one of their "cheaper" stores as the default, add to the cart and then in the cart change the pickup to the store you want to use (don't add any more to the cart after that or your prices will jump). I have to do this since the store closest to me that I want to pick up from always has the highest prices on any item. If I have that as the default adding the item at the higher price, using the cheaper price store for pick up will still charge me the higher price!

For illustration see attached pictures for what happens to one of the included items in this deal when I just change the default store.

Brands included in the rebate are :: Tide, Gain, Bounce, Downy, Bounty, Olay, H&S, Aussie, Pantene, Old Spice, Always, Tampax, Gillette, Venus, Secret, Ivory, Safeguard and Crest toothpaste.

Also if you just spend $20, you get 5 for the rebate

A+++ deal d/t stacking
" $50/$20 purchase total applies to the price paid after any coupon or discount has been applied."

The $15 Target GC seems to make the purchase price become less than $50, thus not eligible for the rebate?

unless you are getting a p&g rebate for $15, this is not really a deal, all the items are over priced
Agree!

The Bounty paper towel is like $6 more expensive than Costco.

$15 GC should make up for that plus mfg. coupons.
Not so sure about that. Little to nothing by P&G is on sale this week. The Ziploc sandwich bags on sale are basically what you can buy them for at WM. Comparing another item the 12 pack Mega Rolls of Charmin are $12.99 at Target and sell for $9.99 at WM and Big Lots. Taking advantage of the P&G rebate and the Target GC is sweet, but instead of buying $50 worth of items for $30 you end up buying about what would be $40 elsewhere for $30. So not really that great of a deal. And when you go even further and compare the prices on the P&G items such as sandwich bags that are available under generic brands the savings are even less. Not trying to crap on this deal (OK so I just did) but this is only a deal if you're a big fan of P&G.

WOW, Thank you for the tip! So the next question is... Where is the "cheapest" Target store?

The Target 12 pack Mega Rolls of Charmin ($12.99) is "Charmin Ultra Soft Toilet Paper".

The same 12 pack "Charmin Ultra Soft Toilet Paper" on walmart.com is $12.97.

Your $9.99 WM seems to be a different kind.

You only have to do that search once since the "cheaper" store is consistently cheaper for all items at all times and so you don't have to search for each item or order.

Just use the store selector to list all the stores around you for a household item (it doesn't even need to be in the same state or be close I think). Switch to each one in turn and find one that gives the lowest price on the item page (which could very well be the one you want to use). Switch to that store as default and forget about it. Just have to remember to pick the store you want in the cart before submitting the order. Over time, that adds up significantly.

This seems to be the case for "household items" only (grocery shop kind of items) except when they are in an advertised sales circular with a fixed price.

Sorry chief but this isn't "slick" nor a "deal".

I absolutely DEMAND this "deal" be removed from the front page!

Given the amount of what appears to be outsized stuffed TU ballots since the beginning, there might be a conflict of interest in doing so. Smilie

IMO, no Target household item deals should ever be on SD given their differential pricing policies.

Amazon usually matches every one of these deals often with different inventory and/or better prices.

I just went and checked myself after reading your post.

I went to look at the Windex product page, and just switched to all different stores in the upper left drop-down box on that same product page. All of them came up $2.99.

My guess is that there is a 'normal price', which most stores will default to. Possibly in more ritzy locations, they will jack up the price, and those stores are the exception.

I also tried this on bounty products. They all came up same-same.

Possible but I don't see the correlation with anything meaningful.

In my area there are 4 stores within a 30 mile radius. Only one of them gives the lower price. While the whole area is expensive to live in, one of them is in a "less desirable" area but has the higher price. The one with the lower price always is in one of the "prime" areas than the other two. So, not sure what it is based on. Access or remote location for supply isn't a factor either. The higher price is the norm around here.

I checked the Bounty 8 Double Plus Select a Size. There are 3 different prices amongst those 4 stores - $16.69, $17.69 and $17.89.

In any case, people should check to make sure their default store isn't in one of the higher priced category for pricing as you did and do what I suggested if that is the case, so they are not inadvertently overpaying.

My guess is that like CVS, Target allows individual stores to vary their in-store prices and the web site just picks whatever the in-store price is to display for the selected store. It might be based on cost of running that store (rent, sq foot, staff size, etc). It makes sense if you were buying in store, but they just haven't handled the online orders where you can pick any store you want or even have it delivered.

Thank you very much! It helped me save a few dollars by choosing a store in Nevada. (I'm in Hawaii, so we pay more for many things. Plus, I've been wanting to use some of my gift cards which were originally intended for their blu-ray sales -- until they abruptly stopped shipping virtually all blu-rays to Hawaii.)

Looks like Charmin and Cascade in not included in P&G rebate. Can somebody double check. I was planning to buy them. Very limited item included in Target gift as well as P&G rebate. Very hard to get both stacked.

Agreed. I'm so mad, I was out of it today and spent hour calculating to maximize both P&G rebate and Target GC. Turns out the Meyer's Hand Soap I ordered was counted under the Health and Beauty rebate and not the $50 Household items so I was not eligible for the $15 GC which I was just $3 shy. I didn't even noticed until after checkout once I was in the parking lot. It was over 20 minute wait in line to even check out and customer service line was long to so didn't even bother and went home. Seems too much hassle to go back and return and re-buy. Wonder if I can just buy 1 item and it will detect that my account bought $47 for household essintials worth and so I can get a refund?
