Depends on if your workload is single threaded or multithreaded mostly. A lot of games are still not the best at multithreading. For encoding or something like that then yes 3700X is likely better especially given the cheaper price.

You can buy b550 mobo in ebay. Because they win newegg shuffle, they sell them very cheap. Gigabyte aorus-pro is usually under $100.

So tempted, my buddy is heading there shortly to pickup something, this would be the first part of a new build.... thought's? I do photo editing so 5 isnt an option for me.

How do you link an article that says the 3700x gains 1-3% in multicore processing yet loses 15% in single core to the 5600x? Let alone say that 15% less single core is "the same" performance wise

Let alone right now Microcenter has the 3700x and 5600x at the exact same price?
