Panduit is running a trade-in promo all year that
could be a very good deal if you have or can find a used printer from the list cheap.
The MP100 is a 'desktop' label maker, the MP300 is a field device. Both seem to retail between $150-$350.
The trade-in list is:
- Brady BMP21, BMP21-PLUS, BMP41, BMP51, BMP53, BMP61, BMP71, HandiMark, IDPRO, IDPRO-PLUS, IDXPERT, TLS2200
- Brother PT1400, PT-1600, PT-1650, PT-7500, PT-7600, PT-9600 PT-E100, PT-E110, PT-E300, PT-E500, PT-E550W, PT-E800W

Some of these retail for less than the Panduit to begin with, and if you can find a used or even broken one for cheap on ebay or whatever, it can be a killer deal.

I bought a used printer for $60 and asked the seller to ship it directly to Panduit instead of to me, saving me the added cost. I provided Panduit the tracking number, and 1 week later I have a brand new $400 label maker.
A co-worker actually had a broken printer from the list he hadn't thrown away yet, so for him it was just the cost of shipping.

They make quality products but pricey, so while this would be a total upgrade on label gun it might make refill options more limited
I am seeing $1 to $1.50 per foot in a very quick look-see.
I am also wondering if either printer comes with software - it is also about $400!

So far I only have the two Panduit branded tapes that came with each unit, and a handful of random off brand Epson PX label cartridges. The off brands work just fine in the MP100, but they have issues on the MP300. First issue is that a few of them won't fit, there is a protrusion in the center of both printers, but its taller on the MP300 compared to the MP100. Three of my off brand label carts have a + molded into them in that area and on the printer side there is a small tab that is 45 degrees off from the + that interferes. I just took a knife and notched that area out of the label cart and now they will fit all the way in. After that they will print just fine, but the MP300 will not cut the labels, even if you manually tell it to feed and cut, it will just feed and stop, doesn't even move the cutter. The top right of the display will says "UNCUT32PT UNKNOWN" when you first install the labels, but it will change the label size to 1/2" so it at least auto detects the width. I assume it needs to communicate the model number to know how to cut otherwise it just refuses to cut. I'm ordering some proper Epson PX branded labels next to see if those will work and as long as I remember I'll update here.
Last issue is the software, I'm using the trial right now and it really sucks, to the point I'd be upset for $20 let alone the $400 they want for it... Like D.Little, I'm also trying to get the Epson software to work, but it refuses to do anything without a printer driver installed and doesn't see the Panduit printer driver as valid, nor can I find a way to force install the Epson driver to the Panduit.
Might be why I ended up with the MP100 so cheap, but the Android app isn't the greatest and it constantly disconnects from Bluetooth. At times I need to connect 2-3 times before it will print a label, and right after it prints it will disconnect and need a few re-connect attempts before it will print again. Then randomly it will decide to behave and print multiple labels no problem. Could also be a phone issue, so I don't want to blame the MP100 right away.
