Um, IDK about this one for me folks.
I see Kitchenaid food processors frequently on the TV shopping channels HSN/QVC, so I went there to see reviews.
Not so good...just 2.9 out of 5 on there out of 205 reviews to date. Mostly about the plastic cup, latch, & no replacement parts.
After just under a year, starting to fall apart per say on these parts of the processor.
Ppl saying the quality of the brand isn't as good & reliable as it once was.
I think I'll search further for a a more sturdy brand to pop up....

edit: I received the silver one today. Better than expected! It looks brand new in very secure clam shell foam retail packaging with manual suitable for gift giving with zero cosmetic issues or signs of prior use. It's a good looking compact machine that most anyone will appreciate for light duty work like making loaded egg or tuna salad.

It does a nice job slicing shredding chopping carrots celery onion. The discs are sharp and can be set high near the feed tube or low. Low motor setting is for stirring. High speed is for disc use slicing and shredding or with the blade for chopping / light processing. Pulse increases the speed considerably for heavier processing and emulsification.

The fit and finish is quite good, The switches are firm responsive and easy to use. The plastic is bright and clear well designed for easy cleaning assembly and disassembly . The pieces fit together perfectly.

This model has been out a long while with mostly good reviews. I suspect they got a batch of bad motors. Hopefully this is now resolved but don't expect it to do the work of a 600 watt machine.

Amazon has quite a few bad reviews saying it is underpowered and the motor burns out.
This was my experience. I think this is the same model they had at my Costco warehouse. I returned it after the motor burnt up trying to chop up cubes of parmesan cheese.

I can't imagine thinking that would work, but maybe my expectations for food processors are too low.

I had bad experience with new ones. Had to replace twice from Costco. I will stay away from refurbished ones.

I would think it should be able to but if I'm paying $40 for a food processor instead of $200-$300 I'm probably not buying blocks of parmesan so... Meh?

My general stance on manufacturer refurbished is that quality manufacturers must pay more attention to them then new.

They can only test x% off the line for quality control. If they are broke and refurb the must have fixed the issue and tested it.

Or if it's not broken it's still tested and it's just a repackage cleaned up return.

If the model has a fundamental flaw then yeah stay away.

Either way half the cost if one finally bites me I'm still way way ahead.

I've never had an issue with any of my refurbs although I'm careful about which one and they do have a 6 month warranty and free returns on this

Add another data point here. Bought this from Costco and returned it since the motor would literally smoke up if you put anything other than liquids

Thanks, OP. I bought one. As another SDer mentioned, I signed up for the e-mail and got my coupon. Just over $39 after taxes shipped - I am excited.

I need this mainly for protein ice creams. I use to some generic brand food processor. It works ok but sometimes leaks and doesn't fully crush ice. Want to try a ninja blender but it's $100 a bit pricey

If you process ice and ice cream daily then you need a high power machine watts >600. The $289 deal on the Vitamix 7500 might come back in stock before the sale ends tomorrow. I hear good things about the Ninja Pro but have no personal experience. I believe that you need to increase your budget to at least $200.

Great deal for what we will use it for. The website crashed repeatedly for me with the silver, so I spent $5 more for black and it went right through.

I also bought this food processor from Costco for $69.99 several months ago and had to return it because the motor died while I was trying to mix dough. It's definitely not powerful enough for that. But while I had it, I really loved the cutting discs and the various chopping, slicing, grating and dicing sizes. It did a great job with veggies and cheese. That's why I ordered it again with this deal. I think for $40 it's definitely worth having. Also, my experience with Kitchenaid customer service had been great so far.

I literally just bought a refurbished food chopper from KitchenAid 2 weeks ago, and the bowl came cracked. Asked for a replacement and they sent another one that was cracked. I just asked to return both of those at that point.

Getting in contact with CS was easy, but just dealing with broken goods is just too frustrating.

Currently $40 new at Costco. It'd be an easier return, seems like.
