These are water resistant and NOT waterproof. It is not submersible for up to 30 minutes as described. Ask me how I know.

Not always the case! There has been plenty of times where 3rd party items get mixed in with items from Amazon, thus allowing you to get a bootleg item that was shipped and sold from Amazon. Has happened to me with memory cards.

I have been looking for a small case that is waterproof, that can be left underwater indefinitely and not leak. Apparently this is not it. Have you found one that fits the bill?

Yes! The Plano 3440 is the equivalent to the Pelican 1040 and is actually submersible. It's half the price too!
