This is most likely targeted, so check your emails. Some users below reported seeing $50 and $75 offers. Simple way to grab $25 - $75 if you qualify for the offer. Email subject was:

NAME, how does $25 Cashback Bonus® sound?

Get $25 Cashback Bonus® after you add an Authorized User and make a purchase by 09/22/2021. Only purchases made after the Authorized User is added will count towards the offer. Offer is limited to one Authorized User $25 Cashback Bonus® promotion per account. Once promotion details are met, cash back will be credited to your account within three billing cycles.

Primary account holder is responsible for all charges made by the Authorized User(s). Discover reports the account credit history to the three major credit bureaus as to you and the Authorized User. This can help build the Authorized User's credit history if used responsibly. Late payments, delinquencies or other derogatory activity with your credit card accounts and loans may adversely impact yours and the Authorized User's ability to build credit.

I have an AMEX account opened since 1991. Several years ago I added my wife as an AU. I checked on her credit reports on Creditkarma. Both Transunion and Equifax has her AMEX AU account reported as a new account when it was opened. Thus the new AU account shortened her average life of credit. I am not sure if Discover would report differently to credit bureaus. Unless they also report the credit history of the primary account, $25 is not worth to have the FICO drop due to a new account reported to credit bureaus.

Just be careful adding a AU if the primary is carrying a balance. It will reflect also on the AU credit report and might get a hit on the score.

I was wondering the same also.
I looked it up on the Discover Card site and saw that they do require a DoB and a SSN# for any AU.
So apparently our cats, doggies, and pet turtles, and imaginary friends are a no-go.

A copy/paste of their policy:
What information is needed in order to add an Authorized User to an account?
"It is our practice to verify the identity of all users of a Discover card account. To do so, we require the primary cardholder to provide the first and last name, address, date of birth and social security number for all Authorized Users added to their Discover card account."
Well that is definitely disappointing. My dog is insulted.

My cat is now boycotting them actively on social media.

BTW, you should edit your title to add YMMV.

Datapoint: I got $25 on one account and saw your post the next day. It beats the rock I got on my other Discover account.

Got an offer for $25 to add AU. Requires SSN. Got the card today and it's the same card #, exp, CVV as mine. I mainly use Discover online and many don't require the name. I wonder if it has to be the AU making the purchase. I guess I could make a small purchase at a grocery store using the AU card.

Why can't you use the AU card online? $1 Amazon reload?

Has anyone actually received a credit? I did this as well after getting an email stating $25 credit but I never got a credit. Made a purchase with the new card shortly after receiving it. Or does it show up somewhere elsenot on your actual bill?

I got it about a month after I made my purchase. The $25 gets added to your Cashback Bonus as "Promotional" on the right side of the statement.

I just got the $25 offer (exp. 3/21/22) on spouse's card as well.
