1500 VIP Points

Well the "value" is going to depend upon your determination of value, but currently the only way to get this is via VIP points, before this you could get it if you spent $100 or more in store or at Lego online.

Now $100 spent store will only net you 650 VIP points (1300 if they're running a double point promotion) so from that angle it most definitely is not worth it, as a smarter option would have to just buy $100 worth of Lego in a store.

Then comes the question of the value of the VIP points, well that's questionable, $5 off coupons cost 650 points, so roughly $11.50 worth of "coupon" which itself is an extremely good value. Of course you can buy a Legoland ticket for 4000 points, which has a value of roughly $100 (yeah it's expensive as shit to go there), so 1500 points would be worth about $37.50 with that as a purchase. So as you can see there a huge variation in "value" of points but it is largely based on what you plan on doing with them, if you literally never will go to Legoland then you shouldn't really consider that as "value"

So that that for what it is, I would say get it if you like the set because most of the garbage they have that you can buy with points is exactly that. I usually don't buy directly from Lego unless it's a set that will absolutely will sell out (e.g. Christmas village sets), because they will go on sale for atleast 20% off any any of the big box stores multiple times throughout the year. So I don't have a terribly large amount of points either, somewhere under 5k I think. But then again, I don't buy with a Pokemon mindset, I get what I want and at this point mostly for my kid (as in he can help me put together my sets Big Grin) and very often I can wait for it to go on sale at Walmart or something (again except the Christmas sets that I get each year)
I'm afraid that I'll just lose it.....
It may not go up in value, but it's still a cool little set based on an iconic moment in US history. It costs a little more in points than $10 worth of rewards certificates.

Not sure if I want to burn 1,500 points on this (plus pay possible shipping costs)

Small set (203 pcs), not sure if value will go up at all

I got this when it was a GWP, love the display. It's quite cute, and I hope they do more of these history-based small sets!

Shouldn't the nose of the plane be pointing into the ground?

I'm disappointed it didn't come with the crash scene as well but I suppose it's hard to model since we haven't found it yet.
