FWIW I was seriously considering to buy a Big Green - but was shocked how closely the newer Bissell prosumer vacuums perform to it. I ended up with the revolution non-pro for something like $180 and was very satisfied.

I bought this for the same price a few months ago, best purchase i made for carpets. Hands down worth the cost over the standard uprights. Saved me a ton when selling my house by cleaning the carpets way better than I anticipated.

Great deal! One of the big advantages of this machine in addition to its performance is its reliability. It's why these are used for rentals and not machines that may have roughly similar performance as another poster mentioned, but are $100+ less. We got ours back in 2015 from another deal, and through kids and puppies and general life, it gets used monthly to clean up all kinds of messes, and it has never skipped a beat. All parts still "feel" like new and it has just been outstanding. So you can buy a $180 unit every few years, or this machine once and that's it. It's like talking about Weber grills vs something half the price, they both can cook and possibly fairly equally, but the Weber is more likely to still be cooking in ten years.

What's your basis for claiming the $180 unit will break every few years? I've had my Bissell Revolution for years and it still works like new. Paying more money doesn't necessarily mean something will last longer.

Nope, doesn't mean it will break, but it's not exactly a secret that lower price versions of many products are often that way due to cost cuts on parts which increases the chance of failure, or if not failure, lower performance. I've also had cheap stuff that others gave bad reviews for failures that kept working for years. I've had cheap stuff break that I end up rebuying every year. I never said a guarantee of failure for getting a lower priced model anywhere. I just pointed out that in general the big green machines are intended for heavy duty/commercial use. So your chances of it still be around and operating like new are better.

I like my Bissell pro heat 2x revolution better than this one.

I agree. I wanted the Big Green too when the prices became lower. But I rented one first and found that it IS expensive, hard to maneuver, takes up a ton of space to store and performs equally as well to much smaller, less expensive machines.

I've had my smaller cheaper Hoover or Bissells for many with constant use and only replaced them for better performing new models not because they stopped working.

Get the Bissell Proheat 2x Pet Vacuum when it's on sale and save yourself $150.

Edit:
For those that are wondering why....

- its hose has swappable attachments
- 3 different speeds for cleaning - express, deep, and max.
- two brushes on the bottom instead of the usually one
- a spot cleaner that shoots cleaner out like a water gun to target specific stains that may be harder to do.
- it cleans equally to the big green or the rug doctor.
- it actually gets under couches.
- it's the easiest carpet cleaner I've ever had to clean.

TOTALLY AGREE!! I have had numerous lower model Bissells and replaced o rings and pumps til I was over it!! I have had one of these Big Green and the suction power doesn't even compare with the other Bissells. This one has the carpets brought back from the dead and dry in no time and I am assured I have gotten a deep-down clean. I have had mine for over 6 years and 4 cats and 1 dog and kiddos I wouldn't be without it! Several neighbors that have borrowed it, now own one! For my area rugs (8x10) I take them outside and pressure wash, then extract the water and on a hot day, by end of day they are ready to put back down. Even use it on tile floors. Just hands down the best. As far as storage, the handle folds down and it really is no bigger a footrpint than the others.

Ours has been used for 2 old dogs who had many accidents over the span of 5 years, and we took it with us for 2 halfway across the country moves and it still works and looks like it was new. Can't recommend it enough. Now we have a puppy who's getting potty trained, so it gets plenty of use.

I recently bought a $200 Bissell carpet cleaner because the Big Green is too heavy for me to lug around upstairs and downstairs (it's 50 lbs, house has 2 floors plus a finished basement) and the difference in the capacity for the detergent and dirty water are really noticeable. The big green can easily do an entire floor of our house (maybe 600 sq ft) while the smaller bissell does maybe half a room before having to refill the detergent and dump the waste. It's better for smaller messes.
