I live in Boston. A lot of people have Canada Gucci jackets. And they love them, until they need to be repaired. Then Canada Goose doesn't support their customers at all for a $1000 jacket. I mean, it's a $1000 jacket. You'd think they could repair a ripped pocket.
Too bad returns cost $7. Nearest store to me is over 30 miles away.
Lands End has been hit and miss for a while. They used to be a top brand, but when they were purchased by Sears the quality really diminished.
Always difficult to actually judge how warm something will be when the weight of the fill (not just the fill power) is not disclosed. Manufacturer temperature warmth ratings are notoriously optimistic.
Good luck.
I don't understand the notion that you need to have a $1000 winter coat that is not particular warmer or lighter than say this $94 coat.

It would be nice if ANY of the photos showed how this fit on an actual person wearing it.

Parkas being warm is one part, but how they actually fit is the other. I'm not looking for wilderness survival in the winter, but (sub)urban survival.

That's why I'll stick with Patagonia, at least until they change their free repair policy.

Those jackets are $1000? I live in Boston as well and I'm going to laugh even harder now when I see people wearing them. Thank you.

Great jacket - I'm a size L in most menswear brands and I bought a size L and it has a little room for more layers. I own both this and the Expedition Winter Bomber and always grab the parka over the bomber. This is my daily during NYC winters and I'll bring this when traveling during the winter. This is plenty warm in the 30's with just a t-shirt on underneath. Would probably pick up a second in a different color if my apartment wasn't the size of a shoebox.
