Tips for longer usage:
1. Use PLASTIC/WOOD spatula
2. Remove leftover rice after your meal, add water to cover the bottom. Simply rinse and wipe the pot on the next day.
3. Never leave rice in the pot overnight
From my mother, proud owner of 1 Tiger rice cooker for more than 25 years
the "problem" is that when these Tiger or Zojirushi rice cookers are made in Japan, they frequently last 10, 15, or even 20 years.... if they don't break down, I have no excuse to buy another new one. I know someone who has a Zojirushi rice cooker that she bought way back in 1990 whey they were stationed in Japan. Still works just fine.(had dinner at her house a couple of months ago and it still made rice just fine)

it's not like a car that I can just park in a questionable neighborhood and leave the keys on the front seat
Here's the exact same model for those who prefer to pay double:

If you use this on a daily basis, the most frequent issue is that the non-stick pot gets scratched, potentially leaching harmful chemical. The problem is, this pot costs a lot. For example, a 3-cup inner pot for Zojirushi is about $55, so some people may decide to get a brand new unit when it's on sale instead.
yeah.. I"ve been wondering about that as well...

the nonstick inner pot of both Zojirushi and Tiger have similar problems... peeling, chipping, or just delanimation(not sure if that's the right term). When my current Zojirushi started doing that after a year and half, I called Zojirushi(USA) to complain. As a "goodwill gesture", they sold me a replacement at a large discount.. I think it was just $25 with free shipping for the 5-cup pot.

Strangely, I have a lot of other nonstick pots and pans... never seen it happen on any of them.(unless I accidentally used a metal utensil and scratched it hard)

Not sure about this model but rubber gaskets need to be replace which become harder to find, the longer they last. Just wear and tear items in general. We have one that talks that we have had for 10+ years. Purchased 5 gasket rings and replace them every 2 years or so. Can't find the gaskets anymore so looks like we will need a new cooker soon.

Agreed. I gave up on coated pots. No matter how careful you are, seems like someone else will forget or it will just end up scratching after washing etc... It's really hard to find a quality standalone rice cooker with a stainless pot. There are a few but the brands weren't mainstream (at least that I know of).

I ended up finding that the Instant Pot makes really good rice. I was always hesitant to buy it since I didn't think I would pressure cook many foods or cook in it as much, but it cooking great rice was justification enough since I make rice fairly often. And the best thing is it's just as easy. No matter the rice, the rice to water ratio is 1:1. The key is just the recipe for the cook time. I use this page as a reference: Failproof Instant Pot Rice [greenhealthycooking.com].

Instant Pot is great if you use it more than just cooking rice. But it can never replace a standalone rice cooker, especially from brands like Tiger or Zoji. The cooked rice quality is just not the same (we tried). I think it more or less has to do with the heat distribution and the computer logic it uses, although I'm not an expert on that part.

Some stores have a different Tiger rice cooker that's made in China. I believe the model number of the one that's made in China is JBX-B10U. You'll see it on the box

I've got a Zojirushi that's over 25 years old and the non-stick pot is in pretty bad shape, like others have mentioned above, so I'm considering this item.

However, from a couple Costco reviews for this model, it appears that the inner metallic plate that is attached to the bottom of the lid (surface above and facing the cooking rice) cannot be removed. What I liked about our Zoji cooker is that this plate can be pulled out/removed and washed separately, which made cleaning the bottom of the lid very easy as well.

Can someone who has this Tiger model comment on this; keeping it clean, etc?

It's not. Because instantpots are dumb and terrible for rice.

Is there a stainless steel inner pot option?
At that point just use a saucepan.

Just doesn't do well with rice. Trust me. We had the same idea. Rice just doesn't come out the same.

It depends on what you plan to do with it. If you are buying something to make rice this is better. If you rarely make rice then something else might be better.
