Tips for longer usage:
1. Use PLASTIC/WOOD spatula
2. Remove leftover rice after your meal, add water to cover the bottom. Simply rinse and wipe the pot on the next day.
3. Never leave rice in the pot overnight

the "problem" is that when these Tiger or Zojirushi rice cookers are made in Japan, they frequently last 10, 15, or even 20 years.... if they don't break down, I have no excuse to buy another new one. I know someone who has a Zojirushi rice cooker that she bought way back in 1990 whey they were stationed in Japan. Still works just fine.(had dinner at her house a couple of months ago and it still made rice just fine)

it's not like a car that I can just park in a questionable neighborhood and leave the keys on the front seat

If this is the real deal Made in Japan. Hell yeah at this price the added plus is that this isn't the larger size which can take up a bit of counter space its the perfect size.

If you use this on a daily basis, the most frequent issue is that the non-stick pot gets scratched, potentially leaching harmful chemical. The problem is, this pot costs a lot. For example, a 3-cup inner pot for Zojirushi is about $55, so some people may decide to get a brand new unit when it's on sale instead.

It never hurts to have a spare even at this price for the real deal Japan made or even as a gift these do hold up over time. Smilie

I have this model, bought for $100. It's great overall but it has a peculiar issue where if you don't keep the tacook plate in, it will drip water onto one section of the rice overnight turning it into mashed potatoes.

Then if you make a full pot of rice, the tacook plate doesn't fit in.

This only matters if you keep your rice warm overnight for using for breakfast and lunch the next day though. I usually put it in the fridge for fried rice, but it may be a deal breaker for some.

yeah I have one that was handed down to me from my parents and its 10 years old. Still going strong and makes great rice. This is a great deals if you needed one.

FYI: I found similar item ( Model JBV-10CU. Item 1198313 ) at local Costco ( Garden Grove ) a few days ago, before this sale. It was also $69.00 ( $89.99 with $20 off ). I think the JBV-10CU may be Costco specific and is the same ( cosmetic different only ) as the JBV-S10U.

Reading some Q&A from Amazon, the JBV-10CU says Made in Japan on the box, but the cooker inside is from China. The JBV-S10U said to be Made in Japan. Don't know if that matter, but I just bought the JBV-S10U from OP.
