wasn't it $599 at Costco a couple of weeks ago as well? (which was matched by Amazon.com)

are you who I think you are? Smilie

you don't also drive a Volvo V90 station wagon, do you?

otherwise, it's too coincidental that someone else who's also into "powerful llamas" will be answering my Mac Mini M1 on the same day...

I was about to buy it from Amazon the last time..... but I ended up getting it directly from Apple because of the $90 Airpods Pro deal from Apple's EDU store.

And as always, it only the 8GB version that goes on sale. Never the 16GB version.

You can only get 8GB of memory from retailers. You can get models with more storage at retailers, but if you want more RAM you must configure and buy from Apple directly, especially with the M1 macs.

8GB = OK for basic stuff. Typical big box computer for the Great Unwashed and Unknowing.
16GB is needed if you have to do anything that uses lots of resources. Only 8GB is a huge bottleneck. And, can't be expanded.

Not true at all. Lots of retailers offer the 16GB version (although it is in much shorter supply I admit).

Yikes. For someone calling people "the great unwashed and unknowing", you sure seem to know nothing about the M1...
