I spent >30mins at my local BB - short(ish) version, in no particular order:
1. This doesn't show up in their internal ("Blue" something?) site under any kind of trade-in promo.
2. No one (right up to the Mgr) at the store knew anything about this.
3. This does show up under the Recycling take-ins page.
4. As indicated by others on this thread, it shows up under a cordless phone recycling take-in.
5. Even though the text of the promo itself states "storage device," the person helping me initially insisted that I therefore needed to turn in a cordless phone (she wasn't clear on whether it was in addition-to or in-lieu-of a storage device).
6. After further consultation with yet-more in-store personnel, they agreed that it simply meant a storage device, sans cordless phone.
7. Nobody knows why it's under a cordless phone recycling take-in.
8. They had to fill out a form for law enforcement indicating how my storage device being recycled was obtained, from where, approx when, and agreeing that I will not get it back.
9. I dunno if item 8 applies everywhere or was just a quirk where I live.
10. I had 4 "storage devices" with me and asked the intake person to choose which one they want to take (2x flash cards, 2x USB sticks).
11. They didn't seem to care which they take, which implies that flash cards are/were acceptable, at least at my location.
12. Everything above will likely need to be run through all over again each time someone else tries this.
13. The printed coupon does indeed state "SINGLE USE. In store only" and "Offer valid 8/8/2021 - 1/29/2023"
14. I did try the UPC string as an online code and it wasn't accepted (was worth a try)
Hope that helps someone!
I took a 4GB SD card to customer service, and after some messing around, they were able to get me a 15% coupon.
I grabbed a WD_BLACK SN750 1TB, on sale for $119.99. This is basically the lowest price from a regular retailer that I've seen. The kind employee that checked me out was a Supervisor, and the 15% coupon wouldn't scan. She did a manual override, because "you seem to know more about this than I do"
Monitors, in particular, contain lead (lbs of it for CRT) or mercury (LCD). https://earth911.com/recycling-guide/how-to-recycle-computer-monitors/

I am definitely considering grabbing this if I can get the 15% off coupon and apply it to something that is already on sale. Perfect drive to slap in the extra available slot on the PS5, especially since the amount of memory it comes with is laughable at best.
