This is not how it works... You have half gig speed meaning 0.5 gigaBITs per second. This is read/write at 1 gigaBYTE per second.

There are 8 bits in 1 byte. So if you want to compare the speed, it would actually be ~16x slower to download vs transfer from this drive into internal PS5/XSX console.

dang they added another $20 discount while it's supposed to be on discount this month? i've never seen that at costco. Can anyone confirm? I also just purchased one at costco this week. Gonna go see if I can return or get price matched.

I'm going to be using it for both the PS5 and XSX. You can store PS4 and PS5, XB1 and XSX games on it, but you can't play the next-gen games from these. You just have to move them back to the internals.

I have this drive for Time Capsule backups. Performs a backup in less than a minute. Crazy fast. Buy it!
Little wasteful for that purpose since once the main backup is done, automatic incremental backups are pretty fast with platter drives.

Only downside is the "previous gen" SATA SSD's (~500 Mb/s) perform the same as "current gen" NVME SSD's (~1000 Mb/s) on the Xbox Series. Limitation of the controller IIRC for both transferring games & load times for playing directly off. Both massively outperform External HDD's (~150 Mb/s).

But at this price it's only a few bucks more that SATA external SSD's so a no brainer if you ever swap it out and use this on your computers. Then you will drastically notice the speed increase if you start large files.
Wait, are you saying previous gen version of this SSD performs the same on Xbox Series console as the new version of this SSD?

I don't expect full on NVME PCIe 3+ speeds, but surely it's gotta be faster.

I'd say any XBox cause Series games won't run from an external SSD but XBox One games will.

An external SSD sped up load times on my XBox One considerably- it's a must buy IMO. This is about the same price as a SSD + external enclosure.

Sure. I would use it to shuffle games in and out of the internal SSD if it is an Xbox Series S|X only game. However, most games aren't really using the full internal SSD speed (as a requirement) so it's really a non-issue for now.

I wouldn't bother on Xbox One, personally. I would just save that money towards Xbox Series X instead.

Just purchased it 3 days ago for $119.99 still hasn't been delivered. Chatted with CS and she refunded me $40, 😂. Didn't even notice that until I saw the email after the chat.

Couple Amazon reviews complain about lost data shortly after buying but I guess everything will have some defects.

Check DigitalFoundry videos, they show that transferring is only ~10-20% faster, not the expected 100% faster and running games directly off it yield no difference in load times. Its a limitation in the storage controller if I recall. Both drastically outperform HDD's though, but the console itself sees essentially no benefit from an SSD with speeds of 1050 Mb/s and one that's 450 Mb/s.

Me too. I chatted with them online and they extended the discount to me. Apparently, there is a way to do this online as well. I can't confirm that.

I just picked this up in Newark, DE and it was 99.99. Someone said earlier that at their store it was 94.99, but I can confirm 99.99 at mine. $139.99 - $40.

i dont think they added another discount but simply lowered the original. I was just at my local costco today and looked at this. The base price is basically 119.99 now and minus $20 it's 99.99.

All the other vendors show a model number "SDSSDE61-1T00-G25".

The Costco model number is "SDSSDE61-1T00-AC".

Any idea if "-G25" differs from "-AC" in some unspecified way?
