All checking account bank bonuses are taxable and the bank sends you at 1099 at end of tax year. Therefore factor in the tax you will owe from this bonus.
Credit card bonuses are not taxable. this is because they are not considered a gift ie. You earned the bonus through the spend. Personally for this reason, I only do credit card bonuses.

Pretty poor reasoning. Bank accounts don't ding your credit score.

Firebird, I disagree with you. In order to succeed in life you need a FICO score. bank accounts do not impact FICO scores. Credit cards is the primary way to build credit along with mortgage (and now rent). Credit card bonuses are larger and non taxable.
They both are good ways at clawing back at insanely low interest rates, and to some extent the rising cost of goods. If you don't utilize both methods you will lose out. You have to pay tax (up front) when you buy the items needed to make credit card bonuses work, and you have to pay tax (annually) on the bank account sign up bonuses.
Hi Be_Kind - thanks for the helpful suggestion. I understand completely - close the account when transferring funds out to avoid low balance fees. With interest rates so low, I'm contemplating new account sign-up bonuses. I've not tried Citi recently, so appreciate all feedback. Thank you!
I have been burned by Citi multiple times. Be warned.
Read the fine print. It clearly says that one promo per person and if you do multiple across they will give you the highest value! !!
Looks to me like the last sentence proves you can do 1 checking and 1 savings promo at the same time
