This will not happen. Straight out. Why because all major broadband companies still have and operate earlier tech in the Nodes and Headends. If you don't know what that is, google it. Hence, the 3.0 which is relatively fully operational in XFINITY, Verizon, ATT, spectrum and Cox will be coherent in the next 5 to 6 years. But hey. Maybe your area is using different tech from all of us around the 🇺🇸. I do work for one of those companies and worked at Verizon for 4 years in their NY headend. 👍

I work for xfinity as a cable tech. These will work on xfinity. Only downside is it's refurbished. If Mac address of refurbished unit is still tied to an account, it will be an issue to add modem to your account.

Working in cable you still see the occasional docsis 2 modem in the homes... Doubt they will ban docsis 3 anytime soon. Also 16 channels should be good for up to 500mbps download if you pay for higher speed you should really look for more channel bonding or docsis3.1 if anyone is curious

For Comcast/Xfinity, to find list of compatible modems:
https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices/#unauth

For my zip, this modem isn't listed as compatible.
This wasn't listed as compatible when I bought it 2 yrs back, but I was able to give Xfinity the Mac address and it worked.. has worked fine on my 100 Mbps connection...

You're crazy to think 3.0 is going anytime soon. Some ISP's, including spectrum have these three tiers: 200, 500 and 1 Gig tier. The regular consumer can't afford or needs a 1 gig connection. 500 and below, 3.0 will work fine. For the price this thing will lay itself off in under 6 months, probably less.

Agreed, and easy to do. I just added some basic groceries I would have bought soon anyway.

I've been using this modem with Cox for a few years now. It used to be certified for their 300/30 package and it worked flawlessly. They auto-switched me to a 500/10 package and it's still fine. However, Cox now only certifies this modem for their 150mbps plan.

Check with your ISP to make sure this modem will support the speeds you want.

Good deal. Heck even it's good backup if DOCSIS 3.1 modem fails in age of work from home.
Mine did last year, no brainer backup

I just grabbed one of these for around $40. Handles my 100mb plan without issue. May grab this for a backup.

Lowest price, yes. But this ref.device everywhere non-expensive. So ask yourself: 1)are you really need Docsis 3.0 in 2021? 2) If a lot ref.devices - may be it's just bad quality and soon it will be junk?

Have been using this model on xfinity since November of 2017. Still going strong on the 400mbps plan.

Problems with Internet mostly not with modem, but with: 1)provider cable/server, 2)electricity. So better spend some money on: 1)2nd provider (cable/optic/DSL/satellite or even unlim 5G/4G) 2)Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
In case of backup modem and router do you have backup desktops/laptops for you kids too?

Good price if your ISP will activate and if your speed tier is supported. At this price you'll make back the purchase price vs. renting in a few months, and after that it's just gravy.

Who cares if they make you buy a new modem in a year if you've made back the purchase price in four months?

your ISP could just straight out ban DOCSIS 3.0 modem. so you would have door stopper.
Dude has 0 idea how standards work, don't listen to this nonsense.

Good deal on a non Intel puma chipset modem. Worth getting to avoid rental fees or backup.

Parents modem straight up died recently and was worth having an extra to swap in to restore service. Waiting for a tech or even going to local office is a pain since they got rid of most in my area.
