I have been a huge fan of audible for decades now.
Unfortunately, their latest version of the android app is garbage. It freezes and freezes. You have to force stop it a lot. Sometimes when it plays audiobooks the playback stutters or skips.
This is really obnoxious, and audible has not addressed the prob, and haa not offered any fixed or patches to the app.
I have a large library so I thought maybe that was the prob. Then I looked at the reviews in Google play. Tons of people are living with this app horror.
I can get a book to play ok on Android by:
download the book
Once the book is on phone: stop app.
Wait.
Then restart app.
Play book
And !!! Don't touch the app for any other reason. No searching. No browsing. If you want to do that, use a separate browser.
Then the book plays ok.
But If I use the app to search or check out my library the app will freeze up.
Good luck to anyone who uses audible on Android.
(Incidentally, my audible android app probs have been replicated on 5 different high end Android phones.
All phones were fairly clean of other apps. One of the phones was brand new that day.)
(My friends who use audible on Android tell me they also have these issues)
I cant get the Audible offer to come up for me - doesnt matter if I'm logged in to my Student Prime acct before I try it or not. The best offer I get is one free month plus 2 free credits, then $14.95 after 30 days. Sure, that works out to the same # of credits but its not for 90d.
Weirdly enough, it once told me I had already redeemed a trial via that account, but there are no audiobooks in my supposed library, which contradicts that, lol
My Student Prime acct is via a complimentary .edu address my graduate school has allowed me to keep. I'm no longer enrolled. When I checked my eligibility for the Prime Music Unlimited offer I learned that signup requires a SheerID check. Rather than risk failing and possibly losing my Student Prime acct I cancelled that signup. I was offerrd 6 months of free D+, but only with Prime Music Unlimited, which I didnt get (see last line).
But in spite of these hiccups its still good to know to go back and at least try the Audible freebie.
Thanks OP! +1 and repped!
Thanks!

I don't think this is correct. If you cancel your Amazon Music subscription your Disney+ promo subscription will be cancelled. I had this happen to me last time this offer was available. I cancelled Amazon Music after 1 month thinking I would keep my 6 month Disney+ trial. Within a day my Disney+ subscription was cancelled, too.
However, even a quick read of google play reviews for the audible app confirms this is happening for many. The problems seem to me related to the app update that happened in late June or early July.
I have also had two different Audible CS reps confirm to me that this prob is reported as constant by many users.
That's why i gave the "get your book to play" fix above that seems to work for me.

I haven't heard of this happening on the iOS audible app.
The biggest prob that I know of with the IOS audible app is that, for some members with very large personal libraries (in the many thousands of audiobooks), the app seems to refuse to load the entire library often enough. Instead it loads half or two-thirds of the library database data, then stops.
I have also had this iOS app prob verbally confirmed to me by several audible CS reps.
