Seems like a good price. How does this compare with the Geeetech A20 that was $140? Print area of this Creality is smaller (220x220x250 vs. 250x250x250), but what about in quality and reliability?

Seems like the ender 3 has great reviews as a well-featured basic 3d printer. Good price point.
I'm stuck between this or $50 more for a pro, and add the glass bed.
Then I just have to learn how to design and program (I have ZERO knowledge to that end)

From reading it also seems like the Creality one can print wood filament (is that because it gets 10 degrees hotter?) and prints faster -at least on paper. Anyone who has 1st hand experience care to comment if that speed difference is meaningful?

I've been on the fence on getting into 3d printing as a beginner for probably years now. Is this a good one to start with? I know it's part of the hobby, but I kind of just want something that is easy and doesn't require much fussing with. I'm ok going upmarket a little instead of just getting what's cheap and having it collect dust, and have been considering just jumping straight into a resin printer since the finished prints seem to look so much better. It feels like it's perpetually a year or two away from being mainstream.

i got one last year from micro center. the glass bed makes a difference with it sticking "better". i'm a noob at this. it took so many tries to get the demos to print. i finally got the hang of it but still not perfect. you will need to spend a lot of time with aligning - it's very important. i watched lots of youtube videos.

i ended up returning it because i didn't have enough time to invest in figuring it all out before the return period was over. but i may pull the trigger again with it being a lower price and i may have more time to tinker with it.

I bought a Geeetech A20 about a month ago and i am very happy with it. Took very minimal effort to calibrate and it prints really good with a cura profile I found online. Now I want the A20M

I know, right, double extruder / multicolor sounds fantastic! Though I'm a little anxious about the learning curve of setting up multicolor prints...

I am not an expert. I have spent some time researching lower end and Ender printers. With some upgrades and a LOT of time the Ender can be a solid entry level printer. You have to decide if you have more time or more money. Do you like tinkering endlessly or set it and forget it?

Bought and ender 3 several years ago ($179) and it has been a solid printer. I did put creality's glass bed ($20) on it and swapped in a BTT silent board($80), you only hear fans. I printed the bullseye cooling ducts off thingiverse and can't complain about how it prints. For about $300 I have something that prints circles around my $900 Trinus printer.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I will add that given the age of the ender 3 there are probably others that have more features at this point. If you just want to buy and print, get a Prusa or better. If you want a garunteed creality out of the box look into tiny machines, they test the units before shipping, but they cost more.

Skip the Pro, get the Ender 3 v2. It's the latest enhancement to the Ender 3 and comes with glass bed.
