Here's a tip. Don't use the metal springs that come with these type stands. They make too much noise when moved. Instead use thick rubber bands on each joint. Works like a charm. (I have multiple versions of this type of stands). Best of luck.
Nothing special ... But I think I have used these ...

how to effectively convert this to a sturdy 10" tablet holder? Most more or less reliable ones hold phones well, not tablets

I've had this exact model for almost three years with a Blue Snowball. It's been great. Only issues I've had really is that the clamp need to be extremely tight down for me now. Might be from wear but once I got it tightened, it's been solid. Also beware that it's hard to fit in tight spaces, as you need the space to tighten it.

I understand rubber bands are more common but on Amazon, there's plenty of bungee cord that's without the hooks. example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HAMILR0/

I have too many memories of being surprised by a rubber band drying out and snapping right into my face. Feeling like they aim right for it, too.

For anyone looking at this, there are basically 3 options for hobbyist mic arms:

1. Neewer Arm - $15
2. Samson MBA - $50
3. Rose PSA1 - $100

At $6, it's worth finding out if you want to go more expensive.
