This was (still is) pretty impressive tech several years ago when this came out for delivering wireless video up to around 1,500ft., with lower battery consumption.

The original pricing reflected that and the niche companies and institutions that relied on it got more than their money's worth and still going in some cases, I'm sure.

In all seriousness, I think you need to buy the receiver too and it's seems sold out…I actually considered it

My J-TECH does 2300 ft. for less than $200. This might be worth $100 if Hero4 still existed.

My iPhone can do 5G livesteams, why do I need this? (just continuing the tradition of using the smartphone as a replacement device like we did with MP3 Players, DSLRs, Handheld Gaming, DVD Players, Video Phones, Dedicated GPS Units, etc)
"I use my bicycle to commute, why would anyone use transit, cars etc?"

Well, in some cases you are right, the cell phone is great, in some passable, in others your standards are too low vs those of other people that care for more.

Too many people revere the convenience of their phones, but dont make sound like a personal feat that your limited applications for a tech makes it dumb, or that you having the ability to do something "if you wanted" (but you dont) that others MacGyver-ed their way to do a decade ago makes you smart-er. Unless ofc you are the inventor of that phone and/or that 5G, in which case, thanks.

While the smartphone is great and getting better, its limitations are still glaring!
1. Battery life when recording and streaming in 4k.
2. Battery HEAT when recording in 4k. Kills the battery.
3. Non swappable batteries.
4. Durability if hit by an object, like a baseball.
5. Cost if hit by an object.
6. Stabilization?

Otherwise, for 1080p, the smartphone may suffice depending on length of recording and safety of the environment.
