Silicone is more environmentally friendly than plastic. It is made from silica, which is derived from sand, and manufacturing silicone does not involve mining for crude oil, which most plastics are made from. It is also more durable than plastic so it lasts longer. Silicone is recyclable but not biodegradable, however it does not break down into micro-plastics either, which makes it ocean-friendly and less harmful than plastic.

The sling is a game changer. Love it when we do roasts. No more dropping the meat back in and having boiling broth burn you.

Read it can withstand heat to up to 450 degrees. But, what is the maximum time it can stay in the oven/air fryer?

What an excellent deal on the egg bite makers! These things regularly go for $12 and as much as $16.

I was just looking for an option for making these things. Perfect timing. Thanks OP!

If the temperature doesn't exceed 450 degrees, I would think as long as you needed. Silicone is generally 500 degrees, so I think they are considering 450 with margin. Then, at 500, it takes some time to melt.

My understanding is that the accessories -- even including the pot inserts themselves -- are interchangeable between the Instant Pot and Insignia pressure cookers.

That's not where silicone comes from
