Membership is effectively free with their $20 bonus gift card to offset the $20 cost of the membership. It's definitely worth signing up IMO especially if you like outdoor activities. The 10% you save is a nice perk that really adds up

It is also worth remembering that REI is the leader in this category and sets the promotional cadence. Many of their competitors will follow with a very similar deals at the same time. Shop around if you don't find what you want at REI.

I joined a long long time ago when they were a small co-op but I can't afford to shop there any more.They only cater to the wealthy these days.
