Both Arris S33 and SB8200 have two ethernet ports, but the S33 is more future-proof as it comes with the following configuration: One 2.5Gbps port, 1 Gbps port, whereas the SB8200 comes with two 1 Gbps ports.

Here is a link with a good comparison. Nevertheless, the SB8200 is great as well.

bought it at $169.99 two weeks ago and they won't refund the difference… doesn't make sense for them to pay for shipping twice (return and reorder) but it does save me $20

That's really for you to decide. Amazon doesn't do price match so it is the only route.

If you can afford the extra cash, then definitely go for the S33.

I've noticed that every couple of years when Comcast rolls out a speed increase in my area, my modem becomes glitchy and disconnects quite often. The list of compatible modems on Comcast's website indicates that my modem is compatible. With many of us working or going to school from home, stable connection is a must. You don't want to disconnect when you really need to be connected.

I know software updates for those modems is controlled by Comcast but was wondering, what's the TRUE longevity of these modems so they are glitch free?

I would rank the following modems as comparable. But the S33 is my favorite. I'm sure others would have different opinions.

1. Arris S33
2. Motorola MB8611
3. Netgear CM2000

I ordered the Netgear CM1100 from Costco for $110 a few days ago. Is $39 worth it to buy this modem instead? I only have 800Mbps plan. No plans on upgrading to 1Gbps or so service. I've had the SB6141 for almost 10 years now, so I don't upgrade the modem that often.

Xfinity/Comcast user here.

The S33 took care of all of my Atlantic BroadBand problems. The Hitron modem ABB provided at the tie of install could not handle all the devices I have, I had so many problems, but they all went away with after installing the Ariss S33
