Any Canon camera has 50MP sensor? if you only need high resolution and good quality image, and prefer DSLR. It is very good deal. I own 5D MK2 & MK4. I still interest this one. I still like look thought mirror. It can give me more creativity. I am thinking either Fujifilm GFX100s or this one. I agree sensor technology change a lot in 6 years. But 5DS is still good. It's like 5DMk2. I still love it.
As much as I longed to avail myself of the advantages of a camera like the 5DS, my 8+ year old 6D is so incredible in low light, I can't think replacing it with a 5DS - now perhaps adding the body, but then the debate of no 4K, etc. I bought my 6D soon after introduction and paid the price, so I would save up to buy the latest. Just IMO. Thanks for the interesting thread!

I love my 6D but the autofocus of the 5D is insane.

I certainly agree that the autofocus of the 6D is.....ugh. Takes true diligence to squeeze, reposition and shoot. Several years ago I needed a body that could handle kids' sports. Couldn't cough up the dough for Canon's offerings, but caught a great deal on a Nikon 7100 (crop) with a long lens. Real pain dealing with Nikon's RAW, but the camera's JPGs in adequate light, are great. A kid at bat, swing and follow around all the bases to home, NONstop about 5fps and dead on focus every shot. So....thinking that way....if this body could match that kind of performance, I could sell both 7100 bodies and glass, but then have to come up with another $1200+ for used long glass. Okay, thanks...now I'm drooling

Set it to use the center dot only. Much faster and more accurate.

The files are stupid big though, especially if you go through elaborate luminosity masking etc in PS. LR also suffers a bit, but not as much.
In a nutshell, 50MP, just like newer 4x MP from Sony & Canon, sound good in theory, but file management "grows old" fast.
I am happy with 24-30MP for what I shoot, and even happier if it comes with the more reliable MILC focusing.
