Samsung 870 EVO Specifications [storagereview.com]
I have been using regular disc portable Drives to record video on for years. Fastest speed is usually 50-80MB per second. Which for 20 - 50Gb movies, takes too long. However, I've read that SSD Drives can write similar files in like 400-600Mb/sec! But when I have attempted to USE portable SSD (Samsung and Others) they write even slower! Like 20Mb/Sec.
What is going on and what am I doing wrong? 🤔

1) How are the external drives connected? (I'm assuming USB, but what kind? Also, were the SSDs true external drives or did you have an internal SSD in an enclosure?)
2) Which SSDs did you use? (For large files like these, DRAM might play a role? I'm really not 100% though..)
I just purchased a 500gb Samsung T7 for backing up family photos/videos and important digitized files. That was $80.
What's the difference between that and this? They're both SSDs.
I probably don't need that extra 500gb, but it's $10 cheaper, so if there's some significant advantage, I might make the swap.
